I can't say that I'm that impressed with Ebay's Feedback system.
Ebay say you earn a reputation on your actions and how well you treat others.
I have always left feedback whether I buy or sell. However over the past year I am surprised at the amount of Ebayers who have bought items yet never leave Feedback, even when they have collected items.
In reality the Feedback profile is flawed. I would suggest that if a buyer doesn't leave feedback Ebay should automatically deduct from the buyer and increase the seller profile. It's no different from saying 'please' and 'thank you'.
Time to have a re-think.
That wouldn't be a good idea, as a seller you might end up getting feedback you don't want if buyers were forced to leave something.
If I was forced to leave feedback for every purchase, many sellers would have lots of Negative or Neutral feedback.
As you probably know, Neutral can be just as damaging for a Seller.
Sometimes, its best just to leave no feedback.
For example, a little time ago, I purchased an item advertised as New but what I received was Used.
I could have gone to the trouble to open a return & Leave Neg feedback but the price was cheap and I decided it was OK.
But I wasn't going to give the Seller Positive feedback, so I left nothing.
Time to have a rethink?
Perhaps...................remove leaving feedback completely, how about that?
Leaving feedback is voluntary for both buyers and sellers.
As it is voluntary please respect everyone's choice as to whether they leave it and when they choose to leave it.
If a buyer chooses not to leave any feedback it could be because they weren't completely happy with the purchase but not unhappy enough to leave negative feedback.
As a seller I am not bothered about feedback
In fact I prefer a buyer not to leave it
Ebay take it that no feedback is good feedback
There is less risk of a buyer leaving feedback that could harm your account
Some think a neutral is good feedback and will mark down stars thinking a 4 is good when ebay expect 5's no less.
I always wait until the buyer leaves it and then leave it as I then feel they have their item and are happy with it.
If they dont leave any then neither do I.
It is the item that is being sold and bought and not the feedback
Feedback is entirely voluntarty it should remain
Yes it is a flawed system but not for the reason you suggest
Feedback for buyers should be abolished & replaced with a meaningful rating system which is automated based on speed of payment, bid retractions, cases opened & won
Once you takje away the optional element of feedback for sellers you remove all the meaning it has & encourage buyers to leave negative or neutral comments where they may have left nothing when voluntary
