Expiry date of item

Contacted an ebay seller to ask when the expiry date of this product: Fybogel Hi Fibre Isabgol Husk 100g Orange Flavour Sugar Free Natural Fibre Drink

You will see the seller just says "We Ship With Maximum Expiration Date" in the listing.

S(He) has replied to my message saying "Exp. Date: Aug 2019, appx,". If I order, could s(he) send me a product that expires in January 2019 and claim it's approximate to August 2019?.

The product actually lists a specific expiry date in the form day/month/year. So, bit baffelled as to how come he cannot be more specific about the expiry date. Other sellers are. FOr example, this seller has "Sept 2018" in the listing. Not "Sept 2018 Approx."

* Be delivered to the buyer before they expire

Nothing about the listing requiring an expiry date. Also, does this mean as long as the product reaches the customer the day before expiry the seller is on safe ground?

I can understand some items listed not requiring an expiry date (e.g. cloths). Surely health/medical products need expiry dates, and they need to be listed with the item on ebay. The buyer can then make decision if/whether to buy or how much to buy.
