Ebay won't refund me because item returned to wrong address

Seller sold me the wrong item, not as described in the listing.

I received the item in a box with tape label scan.co.uk with their receipt, i returned the item back to them with receipt. They supplied courier DPD for pick up on the return. I didn't hear from seller so i contacted them, I am new to Ebay returns/refunds thinking i could go to scan.co.uk for a refund than going to Ebay.

Ebay won't give me a refund until the item is sent to the right address. Scan.co.uk won't return me back the item originally sold to me so i can fix the problem. Reason: they should have no interaction with me because i'm not the seller. Ebay,Scan and myself  tried last communicating with seller, no response to them or any on the matter to try resolve the issue.

So now i don't even have the item and unable to get my refund... What do i do??

What do i do??

Nothing through eBay, I'm afraid.

EBay provides two return procedures, one for change of mind returns and the other for items that are not as described.

In both cases, you need to follow the correct procedure, through the resolution centre, and the item must be returned by a service that provides online tracking proof of delivery to the seller's registered address. Without this, there is nothing you can do through eBay. Even if you paid by PayPal the same requirement would apply, to prove delivery.

We don't know how you paid for this item, or funded the payment. If from a credit or debit card, you could try your card issuer to see whether they could help. Otherwise, you can consult trading standards or citizens advice, or consider using the small claims court or the Courts and Tribunals internet-based money claim service: https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome. If the seller is abroad, there won't be anything you can do.
