Title said "xxxxx- card" (xxxxx being the model of a graphics card), and in the description I clearly state that what I will be sending is a picture of the said graphics card, will eBay side with me in the case that the buyer decides to file SNAD? The person in question is using bots to buy up this stuff and sell for profit, which I really don't like, and I created this listing in the hopes of catching out said evil-doers. This is the listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133696016679?ViewItem=&item=133696016679
Should I just issue a refund now that the buyer has asked since I will lose the case anyway, or is it worth it to deny the cancellation in hopes of eBay siding with me?
Many thanks!
eBay will never side with you it was a fraudulent listing from the start, listed in the wrong category to deliberately mislead any buyers
When you listed at £650 you knew exactly what you were doing if you dont refund voluntarily eBay will still take the fees
The item you are selling is listed soley to defraud and ebay will take a very dim view of such behaviour.
Do the right thing and tell your buyer to open a nad case if you've already posted the card. If you haven't you should cancel the sale using 'No stock' as this is the closest reason to your situation,
You will forfeit your selling fees and gain an account defect which, as a very new seller, will probably wipe your account out.
It isn't up to you to catch out evil doers, buyers are well protected with the ebay MBG so yours was a wasted effort I'm afraid.
While this is perhaps understandable two wrongs do not make a right, and ebay would not see this as anything but fraud, so you will have to refund. You will still have to pay a hefty paypal fee.
" is using bots to buy up this stuff and sell for profit" I have no idea what you mean, and what is wrong with buying and paying, how ever you think they are bought. Anyone is allowed to buy and use sniping if they wish? Isn't all trading done by buying perfectly legally and reselling at a profit?
You listed in - Computer Components & Parts>Graphics/Video Cards
You described it as - RTX 3070 MSI SUPRIM X card - SLIGHTLY USED
Price £650
In the body of the listing you said - You will not get a graphics processing unit. You will get what is essentially a picture of an incredibly sought-after card.
Simply you have committed the offence of fraud.
Unfortunately you probably won't suffer the full consequences of your action.
Whether you "like it or not" there is absolutely nothing to stop buyers who think they can buy something and sell it for more doing so. It's how many businesses work!
