Dishonest Buyers

So a buyer buys £18 item from you. Waits for it to arrive then bypasses ebay and paypal by going straight to credit card company to say they didnt make the purchase. Paypal take back the £18 plus another £14 chargeback fee. What can be done about it. Have emailed the buyer to threaten police involvement but will they really be interested?

I have to say, I found the paypal customer service telephone number and they have been brilliant. They have had to take the money off me for now but are doing everything they can to help and are very friendly. Fair play to you paypal. I did provide paypal with proof of posting and screenprints of ebay messages where buyer has admitted using a shared computer mmmmmmmm!! So hopefully my money will be returned soon

Paypal are good usually very good so I hope everything goes well. As long as you could provide the proof of postage or any tracking you should win.

You only need to provide PayPal with proof of postage, and unauthorised use means just that, someone used your buyer's account without their consent - so who are you going to report to the police?

It wasn't that the buyers ebay account was misused, it was that they buyer used somebody elses card/paypal to pay without consent of the card owner, surely that is theft by the ebayer from the card holder? Although, now from me because I am being claimed against by the card holder

No, but lucky for you all you have to do is to provide Paypal with a scan of the proof of posting slip showing that you sent the item out to the address they told you to send it out to.

 

If you have a tracking number, even better.

You put details of tracking number or the proof of postage and the case closes immediately.

Did you do that

No you are right the police will not be interested
