Why does eBay not act swiftly when counterfeits are reported?
The law is clear but the fakes still get sold to unsuspecting buyers.
Is there a way to contact eBsy in the uK these days? I find nothing on my phone app other than this anonymous community.
As said, buyers are covered by MBG, all listings say this:
"Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing."
So how are ebay to know if fake or not, they never see the item.
You could be a rival seller trying to remove a competitor, so ebay won't remove item on 1 report.
not very heartened to see the various replies giving the tone that it's unreasonable to expect ebay to act; as I've said unsuspecting buyers get scammed and the criminal (that is what a seller of counterfeit goods is) gets away with it. as for ebay knowing it's incumbent on the go-between between seller and buyer to have a responsibility to uphold the law and they shoud have procedures in place to quickly identify illegal goods. Some counterfeits are dangerous - I wonder where ebay's responsibility ends if someone unwittingly buys such goods through the platform gets injured as a result, or worse?
adding to the advice already given -
Exactly how would eBay know the item[s] were fake?
Hi Ebay sometimes do not act swifty as there are millions of items on the site for sale at any one time.
If some subsequently receives a fake item.......they are usually covered by Ebays Money Back Guarantee.
Contacting Ebay CS is difficult at the minute due to Covid etc and the operatives having to work from home.. To try and contact them go to contact us at the bottom of the page. it is usually a call back and sometimes you may get live chat. Not sure if you get this option on the App so may have to use a different device.
Anonymous? Not me i post here on my only Ebay account 🙂
We are just other members trying to help.
As you can see we are not annonymous we are members here like yourself, contacting eBay CS now there you do not know who you are talking to in the Philippines.
eBay have over 1.3 billion listings on at any one time so impossible to check each and every one. Some members reporting items as fake and they can be disgruntled buyers or competitors so every instance has to be investigated and an item / seller cannot you must appreicate be removed by one report.
The only way to get a seller booted off for continually selling fakes, is if the buyers do a proper job, that is, to open those item not as described cases if not resolved they result in strikes on that sellers account, doesn't take too many strikes to boot that seller off the site for life, no comeback for them on eBay.
A bit rude really.

Well your username tells us that you are in the UK. That is very helpful when trying to help as often some come here for advice who are based in the USA. The rules are sometimes different for other Ebay sites. IF you sold on the account you are posting on then yes we would be able to see the City where you probably live and shipping your items from. I have a photo on my account so yes you can see what i look like 🙂 It depends on how "anonymous" a members wishes to be.
From your username that rightly or wrongly infers.........you are either a food critic or just love your food 🙂
