Yes, there is a limit to the number of messages you can send, but it should be more than just a couple.
It could just be a glitch so worth trying to send another message later today or tomorrow.
You have 30 day's from point of sale to open a case for item not as described, but nothing to enforce a promise from the seller to make a partial refund, only then, a full refund through a case.
