Buyer in Italy

Hi, I have sold an item an the auction winner is in Italy.  I sent him an invoice for the winning bid + £10.50 (total £66.50) for tracked parcel.  He is telling me Ebay is billing him £81, an extra £12 + vat for shipping, is this correct?

It is possible that it is Vat for their own country

Ebay has to charge the rates

It is up to the buyer to know their own taxes/vat when importing

They are the importers

Example

If you were importing to the UK

• Orders up to £135 sent from outside the UK
• Orders where the item is located in the UK, but the seller is not a UK seller
• Most countries have their own rules.
