How do you get pipped at the post on the last second of an auction, by someone who has not made a bid before and so theoretically has not entered a maximum bid?  There was no reserve on the item, is it possible to do a secret bid on an item? Regards a dissappointed bidder.

Many savvy buyers enter their maximum bid as late as possible.

Hwever, it's the highest bid wins, not the latest, so presumably they were prepared to pay more than you
