Attempt to cancel an item

Hi, I attempted to cancel a bid, (at the very last minute to be honest) it was the only bid. I explained Inwas purchasing for a friend and it will no longer fit. The seller refused to cancel the bid as is their right and said she did not believe my reason and would open a non payment case. Help! Don't know what to do, I was actually buying it for my Mum as a surprise for her step granddaughter's wedding in June. I knew it needed to be altered but not too much as she likes things loose. However, she was then admitted into hospital and since lost a significant amount of weight, so the dress is effectively useless to me. Does anyone have any advice, dress £9. Postage £8, seems a lot for a dress I can no longer use.

Thanks

You either pay or take the unpaid strike.

Sellers don't have to cancel, buyers can't cancel.

You can't remove a bid inside the last 12 hours, your reason isn't valid anyway.

Once you bid you enter a contract to purchase.

It's not the sellers fault the dress is no longer any use to you, they are charged the final value fee as soon as you win the auction so obviusly they want that fee back by opening an unpaid case.

You could always sell it yourself.  You may even make a profit.
