I have, understandably, been blocked from selling an item as it was a fake, which I bought - on eBay! - a few years ago. I had no way of knowing at the time that it was a fake bag. It wasn't until a fried was impressed with the name, Celine, which I had never heard of, that I realised. However, I've used it until recently, when I decided to sell it. I was assiduous in describing it truthfully, even putting "faux leather" in the title. I really think eBay shouldn't allow that phrase, as there must be a lot of people who have no idea what faux actually means.
Anyway, this is a warning to everyone. I haven't had my previously perfect record besmirched, luckily. Oddly, several years ago, I was trying to sell some Hermes items - genuine, naturally - and was blocked during the set-up process because eBay wanted me to acquire a longer seller record. I didn't argue with this and applaud their policing of the site.
It's not that they "are" fake. How could eBay know? The likely explanation is that the manufacturer/brand holder simply does not want their items sold on eBay and has registered on VeRO to prevent it. There are - of course - some sellers who may get away with it!
