"Grrrr," snarled the fox. "I've been expecting you, Barney Badger!"   Barney spun round and stared the fox in the eye. "You don't scare me or my friends!" shouted Barney, throwing himself in front of the cage in which the moles were trapped.   "And just how do you think you'll escape, little Barney!" spat the fox, his eyes blazing with anger, his gleaming white teeth glinting in the moon-light. As the dastardly fox ranted and raved at poor Barney, Olly the Owl silently crawled his way into the barn through the hole the mice and Barney had made earlier, followed by two of the field-mice. "Quick," whispered Olly, "Climb on my back, we're going to fly up high to the rafters - I have a cunning plan!"Olly perched unsteadily on a thin rafter, the two field-mice crawled off Olly's back and await their instructions.   "Do you see that large bag of grain dangling from a rope? You're going to gnaw through it and we're going to bop that horrible fox on the head!" The mice squeaked excitedly and scuttled along the rafter to where the rope was tied and started to chew furiously.   Meanwhile, the fox was circling Barney and Sally menacingly. "You may well ask," gloated the fox, "Why I kidnapped these two snivelling moles rather than eating them on the spot! Well they saw me stealing chickens from Farmer Brown's shed! I wanted to make sure I frightened them into never telling anyone about it! I am actually a vegetarian fox, but my cubs like the taste of chicken! That's why I didn't eat the moles, but I might make an exception for once!!" At this fox leapt over to the cage holding the moles and started growling and snapping at Barney, his claws flashed near Barney's nose. Just then, Olly the Owl swooped down from the rafters straight at the fox's head. Startled the fox jumped back. "Now!" hooted Olly to the field mice, and the sack of grain fell straight down onto the naughty fox!   "Hooray," the animals cheered, "That horrible fox is dead!"   Mr & Mrs Mole were beside themselves with excitement. Barney pulled the bars apart on their cage and set them free! "Thank Barney," said the Moles, we were beginning to feel like we were finished!"   "Lets get out of here," said Barney, we've got to go and tell the other animals in the wood, that the wicked fox is no more.   The End
