Ebay will be donating unclaimed prizes to charity.

Suggestions for which charity are very welcome!

I like the idea of a raffle, we would get a chance to win the prizes we couldn't find. And make more money for the charity or charities.

I think the idea of auctioning them off is a brilliant one, that way a LOT more Charities would benefit, definately think prizes/money should go to childrens charities, especially those looking after children who have been orphaned because christmas must be so hard for them.

wouldn't be that up to the winners?!!!! Good on them, if they choose to donate their prize to a charity of their choice.
maybe that is an idea for ebay next year. To hunt for a prize, and the winner donate it's value to their favourite charity. : ).

I like the idea of a christmas ebay raffle. bung all the prizes on one listing, sell tickets at a quid each and draw the raffle, people will enter because they have a chance of winning one of many prizes.
am I making sense on this or do I need to go and lie down? (I may be overcome from selotape fumes, been wrapping pressies for hours)

Auctions are ok but your then cutting out lots of genuine & willing people that will not be able to put up £100's.

Many more people will be able to buy & participate if you sell tickets for £1, hopefully resulting in a far bigger money pot for the charity/chaities.

I think the NSPCC is a good idea, rather than a specific area!

Or split between a chidren's hospice and NSPCC.

As a registered monthly contributor to the NSPCC Full Stop charity, I would love to see some of the procees=ds go to them ... or indeed any of the other childrens charities many which have been mentioned already in this thread.

And.... I think the suggestion of a raffle is brilliant ..... charge a quid per ticket (payable via PayPal prehaps)

Could I suggest that it should be a UK wide charity...Since people from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have been taking part...My humble suggestion would be Cancer Research UK.

Maybe you could combine the ideas? A raffle for any high value prize so those who can't afford a lot can still have a go, and an auction for the lower value prizes. Either way, a list of charities from Treasure Elf so that the winner could nominate which charity he or she wanted from the list. There are so many worthwhile charities out there, I help with guide dogs for the blind, maybe that could be considered. Happy Christmas Eve to you, Treasure Elf, and to all eBayers out there.

as so many people are suggesting different charities but like minded themes i think the ebst idea is as suggested auction the goods on ebay and split the proceeds to a few charities.

How about run it as a raffle as someone has already said. Dizzy, Daisy and Donna (hope i got that right, i know there were a few more involved) ran a charity raffle a few weeks ago on the Q&A forum and raised a huge amount.

Sell the tickets at between £3-£5 each, and that way it can be open to anyone, and more people are likely to enter. You can enter once if you cant spare much or buy a few more if you can.

Would raise more this way in the long term I think and everyone could contribute.

for what it is worth, here is my humble opinion,
yes,i think the prizes should be auctioned, (and this includes the eurodisney prizes on offer on christmas day,,,,,,,,,,who really needs to sit at pc screen on the most family orientated day of the year,trying to find a free holiday)i think the money should be divided between kids cancer charities/hospices for kids, also pet charities, like the PDSA,(this is one of the very few animal charities that gets no government help),i also believe that some should be donated to guide dogs for the blind,,,,,,,,it costs £10.000 to fully train and pay lifetime expenses to partner a guide dog for its working life to a blind person, and this charity is now in a very bad way, also getting no gov or lottery aid.finally, please remember that we always, in this country recognise and sympathise with battered wives, there are a vast number of battered husbands out there, they need help and compassion too,
i wish we could think that everyone will have a very merry christmas, surrounded by love and kindness, but we all know that in reality,that is just not the case.
