Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

Treasure Hunting fever has struck the nation! Well, nearly 😉

Do you have a story you would like to share about your Treasure Hunting?

We are putting together some snippets for our main treasure hunting page here: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/treasurehunt/ and would love to hear from you!

This thread will need to keep on topic, so if you want to chat with other hunters, please use the rest of the forum, your posts will be removed if they are off topic.

Thanks!

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

Oh my god! I've gone completely mad, it's 14.10 & i'm still in my dressing gown, hoovering, washing up, kids uniform, ironing & lunch will have to wait..as mum is busy on the pc.
Mind you, I've got one of todays jobs in hand. I'm busy buying Christmas pressies for all me family.....I've already brought a christmas carol on VHS & the book, been looking at Tiny Tim, Bob Crachit & even Oliver Twist. I wonder what my boyfriend will think when he opens his lovely dusty bin for Christmas. I've even brought a leaflet with an colour analysis on, just because it said something about Carol somebody & Rudolph.
I'm going out tonight for a chinese & at this rate iwon't be ready & my conversation will be very simple........ EBAY TREASURE HUNT.
p.s. Has anybody actually won? & if so how? I'd love to know, even though i'm only in it to find the ****** item in the 1st place, actually winning it would be a bonus & something worthwhile from my day off work i suppose.........Goodluck folks, i'm loving all your messages, just goes to show i'm not the only person in the uk to have a numb bum..xx

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

Negs: Sore bum, lack of life for last few days, didnt eat breakfast til i ran for a chocci bar at 4pm, eyes glazing, friends all refusing to answer my calls as all i do is shout "QUICK QUICK... NAME A DICKENS REMAKE!" etc, pulse fluctuating dangerously as i missed THREE listings by seconds...

Pluses: Learnt how to search strings, my cryptic crossword clue solving has improved, it fills the hours usually spent doing boring work in the office, and oh.... I WON A CAMCORDER!!! WOOO WOO!!! ^_^

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

Well my story is like this... i had a feature plus listing for some festive stuff.

Thanks to your clever idea of telling buyers they could buy and wouldn't have to pay I had to cancell so many bids on it that I feel i've been done out of my listing fee! Oh yes I could insist that they all pay up and end up with a shed load of neg fb all because of the competition.

If a seller pulled a stunt like this he would be NARU'd within 24 hrs....

Thanks guys for a head ache of a week!

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

I loved the competition 😄

I won an iPod yesterday (YAY!) which is something that I've wanted to get but there was no way that I'd pay that much money for one lol!

I got the PI = 3.14 clue which is great as all those years of maths class didn't go entirely to waste lol. Not too sure why I decided to check the auction prices for the £3.14 but hey, I guess that means my whole lateral thinking bit is improved and I didn't even realise.

Thanks to ebay, the pinkies, etc for this cool competition :^O

And anyone who hasn't won something yet: there's loads of prizes left and the excitement that you get when you see the "you've found it" image is great 😄 (granted, my feeling probably wasn't as great as the person who won the mini cooper..... but it's still good lol)

:^O Good luck, have fun and try to remember to eat and sleep (.... maybe each day should have a break in them where nothing is up for grabs.... give people some time to sleep lol)

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

Christ ive neve seen such a lot of sycophantic crap in all my kin life.

look people... these maggots at ebay are as bad as the scammers.
Most of them probably are the scammers with fake Id's

They have pulled every post from these forums that so much as mentions the problems for sellers that this dumb comp has caused.

I take it comenting on the stupidity of this competition is an error.

The error is not spending the money reducing your fees or catching scammers

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

My treasure hunting experience...sitting on this ikea chair developing bed sores.Feverishly scrawling lots of nonesensical chode on multiple pieces of paper.Deluding myself that it will be ME soon.Ten hours later i'm sat in a pool of my own urine, jabbering enigma like trash to myself, cursing the ELF and searching for every Glowing Ghost that ever stepped foot near a corner. Finally my red hot dead cert never came up...NEIL SEDAKA...OH CAROL!!!!

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

Logged in at 16:59. Won a camcorder at 17:10. Only took me 11 minutes to win. How easy can it be? It is just a case of getting the search right and you cant fail. If it was not for the fact that I can only win once, I would have had another 2 by now.

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

Well, all I can say is that this Treasure Hunt is a great thing if you're on a diet! Especially when something that you really REALLY want is up for grabs! I woke around 4am today, and decided to wander through to see what the prize today would be: A digital camcorder. And not just one, but one per 2 hours. And then, thanks to what seemed to be the clue elfs liking for lambrini, it changed to 2 per hour. Thank you, all at Ebay, for honouring what must have been a mistake! There have been camcorders being won at a frantic rate all day - I came very close no less than 5 times during the afternoon (I won't tell you what I was screaming at the screen the 5th time I just missed it!) and then at just after 8 this evening, I was lucky enough to be the first bidder! So thanks to you guys, my partner will get a fabulous present this Christmas, something that he's been wanting for some time, too! - now I just have to search for a gag so I don't spill the beans the moment I see him...!
The reason this means so very much to me is that because I'm disabled, my partner was going to have to take me shopping for a Christmas present for him, and I always feel really rotten when I can't get him something to really surprise him. But never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be able to surprise him with something as great as this!
Its now 1 1/2 hours since my win, and I've nearly stopped shaking, haven't yet stopped grinning, and spent much of the past hour and a half on the phone to friends and family babbling incoherently at them, although I think the message got across to them.
So although it was hard going at times it has been very well worth it, and I'd say to anyone who isn't immediately lucky - keep trying. Your turn may well come too.

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

I posted a story yesterday about my extra long journey home due to missing my junction on the motorway! My thoughts were wandering along the lines of lateral thinking. I really have been addicted! Anyway, it must have been worth it as I am chuffed to bits with winning a camcorder today, I've never won anything before and being a student this will be a great help! Thanks ebay!

Re: Tell us your Treasure Hunting story

I was absolutley convinced that Harry Potter(daniel Radcliffe) would be one of the answers. Carols-Dickens-David Copperfield-played previously by Daniel Radcliffe....... get the picture! shame on me! did any one go for that answer too?
