This game is relatively straightforward in that you just have to find one word that links two words. The first word given as a clue ends with the linkword and the second word given as a clue starts with the linkword. So, for example, we could have the following:
Pin**** and ****teaser. In this example the missing word would be Prick - ie: Pinprick and Prickteaser.
I'll give you another one to start the thread off - if you feel like having a go see if you can work out the answer and then submit your own two words following the same format as described above once you have answered the post. So, to start off with, we have:
Fire**** and ****reading

The correct word is the opposite of "boar". Hope that helps.

Could it be "fish"? That would make "Toothfish" - a kind of cod; and "Fishguard" - a Welsh town. I haven't entered this as an "official" answer, in case it's wrong!

Sorry for my prolonged absence from Fun & Games, but I've had a lot going on recently. It's a bit of a long (and very boring) story, so I won't bore you with the details.
Anyway, the answer was "Pick" - as in "Toothpick" - a wooden stick with sharpened ends used to remove food debris from betweent the teeth after eating, and "Pickguard" - the part of a guitar (whether acoustic or electric) designed to bear the brunt of the pick making contact with the guitar during playing, thus prevent the guitar itself from getting scratched up by the pick as as result.
Okay, next one...
Flat**** and ****ate.
