I remember being at university and having to enter all my data on punch cards, and then take them all, together with a box holding several hundred punch cards representling the program, to the computer centre. Next day I could go back and pick up the results printed out on a pile of continuous paper. And it wasn't that long ago............ well it doesn't feel that long ago...... OK a mere 35 years ago!

And I only dropped the box of cards once!

I 'saw' one when my son had one when he was about 12 or 14.  Seems all they did was something with a tape recorder and sat for hours writing numbers and then a little stick man walked across the screen and son and hubby thought it was wonderful! 

I actually used one for the very first time when I was in my 50s or so.  (and I haven't progressed much in the meantime!!)

My mum, 83, lives in a warden assisted development. She's the only one with an IPad and all the others go to her for answers to things like puzzles and 'what was he in before' type things. She enjoys being the queen of Google and font of all knowledge!

Hello Captain, I am here, late as usual!

I do use f/book but prefer here, I can't work out who everyone is

on f/b when they use their real names!  Well, I've worked out

a few but some I don't know if they're from here or just people

And I'm here I keep checking to see what topics are posted and if I can join in with any. Don't like Facebook, this site feels much more comfortable for me and you are a helpful and comforting lot when needed. Love it when there are posts where we can reminisce about the good old days...... xx

when I was a PA the latest thing was a word processor. I taught myself to use it and pressed the keypad lock by mistake, it took me all afternoon to work out how to unlock it I got my first computer about 12yrs ago and love being on here for a natter.
