my next eldest left school last year at 18
has all his GCSE's
went onto tech from grammar...........hated his course........and left it 3 months shy of finishing (he bitterly regrets it now) but i couldnt sway him.
anyhoo
both of us have been on the gov.job.centre and even gumtree from he left.
and there is nothing...........he would take any job......but he doesn't even get responses
from applications he has made.
he does have an up to date C.V
i'm presently paying for his driving lessons......to at least give him an edge
it is so awful to see a young man...........so eager to work......and yet hasn't even got an interview
he went on the back to work scheme, signed up to have a 26 week placement........just a tad extra pennies over his jsa........and the lady who took the course told him it could be up to a year for them to find a placement.
he would ideally like to work in the care sector.........but he would do anything ...but this is knocking the stuffing out of him not being able to contribute to the house.
rant over:-(

Forgot to mention...........check at your council offices and community centres as they often both run books listing current local jobs .
My G/S took the food h. course and was told by staff there of a job in the book which he has been in for a year now.....and loves it.

A CRB has to be applicable to the place you are working so its a waste of money just getting a general one.

tara. you said your lad was interested in a care career?
what about http://www.rcn.org.uk/nursing/becomenurse
perhaps a childrens or a learning disability nurse ?
Or perhaps a nursery worker?
Theres a bursery which is taxable but it does give some income. it also involves on the spot training as well as uni at different hosdpitals so would be interesting.
as far as the other lad is concernecwith the sciatica, no need to give up building trade work if that is what he enjoys doing. ( it will pick up)
he needs a oestopath or save money and do the treatment yourself.
It is simple but flippin painful but it works.
The nerve runs from the back of your pelvis through your rear end going to the side round the hip area and down the legs. easy to find it by pressing hard with your thumb in the area.
when you yelp, you know its the right places;-)
Treatment is simple. starting at the rear end and hip area apply hard pressure for a min or 2 to the nerve and then at intervals follow the nerve down. use fingers and thumb.
The other hand is used to keep the patient pressed to the area is he is lying down on so he doesnt hit the roof when you do it.
As i said its very painful but each time its done (leaving 3 or 4 days between) it gets less painful until after 3 or 4 treatments the pain disappears. problem sorted.
all your doing is exhausting the nerve and forcing it to relax withthe pressure

thank you so much for all your suggestions,
here the only place you can get into nursing etc is in queens university belfast........and even then placements are as rare as hens teeth.
we have the paper from the colleges offering all their courses, but most are due to start in september.
he scours the local job centre and we both do that online too.
mozart his back problems are more complicated, i didnt want to bore you with the details in my other post.... he has seen a consultant who that him if he puts any strain on his back he may end up with a rod in it. forget the name of the condition.
