rhododendrons

i gave into temptation and bought a rhododendron at the week-end it's around 2 ft tall and round

what should i do with it?

pot it into a bigger pot or plant very little shelter around house not far from the sea and can get gale force(or stronger)winds

p.s. will just have to take it own chance with the sheepSmiley Frustrated

Either leave it in its pot over the winter and then plant it out into a slightly bigger pot, or put it in the ground, in the Spring. On either count use ericaceous soil which you can buy in bags in any garden centre.

check how big it's going to grow first before you put it in the ground next spring. Make sure that it will be in a good place, as it's going to grow!!

good luck with it Fiona,  i know the wind will be its worst enemy

personal i'd  have it in a greenhouse  during the cold - are if they safe on the islands?

is it a particularly hardy type?
