I just got another phone call - the latest in the day so far and this time my daughter answered as I am in bed...
The callers number came up "unavailable" but, as before, a person on the line told my daughter he wanted to discuss my recent car accident/ collision. I've had at least 4 of these calls this week alone and I reckon its another scam but it is wierd as they mention the road I live in and my name despite me being ex-directory/ not on the electoral roll etc. I can't think where they got my info. This time my daughter asked who they were but the phone went dead. If you start asking them questions they ring off so I can't think what they have to gain by making these calls. I only go out a couple of times a month so would remember any so called collision and trust me there hasn't been any!!
Anyone else ever got such calls?

I get 4 or 5 text messaes every week offering to assist me to make a compensation claim following my recent no fault accident.
This appears to be taking over from the mis-sold PPI claim scheme

Oh you could be right I just don't get what they have to gain in calling as they ring off as soon as you ask who they are or when was the collision supposed to be.

I get a few but I did have a prang.
I just tell them the other guy's insurance has already paid up
then politely hang up

I keep getting pre-recorded messages saying that I could get help as I am in debt up to £10,000. Seeing as I have no debts whatsoever, I don't know where the heck they are coming from.

I get calls telling me there's a problem with my computer and if I go to it they will talk me through what to do to fix the problem! They must think I was born yesterday!

We get a few calls a week about our recent accident which we haven't had, they are trying to get lucky and get someone who has had an accident, we also get PPI calls we haven't had PPI, we also get phone calls from BT (not BT) saying they need to fix a problem with our broadband,
We are ex directory and not on the electoral roll, and also on the telephone preference service. They just ring random numbers and hope they get lucky.

Yes I know they are all scams, but sadly some people don't and get taken in by them.
\there are loads we get by email as well, from skype, paypal, ebay, barclays, nationwide,. RBS . We are constantly being told that these organisations don't make these calls and never ask for passwords , but people still get caught.
I never open the emails and delete them straight away.
The phonecalls get the receiver put down straight away as well.
They are an inconvenience but unfortunately a part of our lives nowadays.

The PPI ones get dealt with differently ( apologies to anyone this may offend )
Goes something like
'If you had a loan or mortgage we can help you reclaim the payment protection insurance'
'All loans and the mortgage were in my husband's name'
'Oh Can I please talk to him'
'No he died 5 years ago'
'spluttering, ohs or complete silence' followed by 'sorry' and a quick hang up.
