Is this forthcoming 10% on P&P going to affect any of you selling/buying?
I do have things to sell but I tend to take them down to the charity shop itself...so the same thing really...supporting the local community. In fact I am going to join my son and volunteer to work in the charity shop as well.

Yes it will affect all sellers won't it. My items usually post for £2.60 so that's anothe 26p to come off what the charity gets. I can't afford to cover all the fees myself. It won't stop me doing MDCC for as long as it carries on but it has been very slow lately & things like this will sadly hasten it's demise.

I am hoping to have something made in time, but fear I may be back in hospital again by weekend 😞
Didn't know anything about this 20% on P&P lark???? It really is going to kill Charity auctions off at this rate 😞

Sorry, meant 10% not 20%

If anyone was thinking of making any drawstring P.E. Bags I would be very interested 😉 Especially if they could be personalised somehow 🙂
20-08-2013 3:41 PM
Give me more details of what you would like Welshie.
20-08-2013 3:50 PM
Drawstring bag, washable preferably, big enough to take full P.E. Kit, (trainers, shorts, t.shirt or track suit)
Maybe embroidered names on, or some such-like 🙂 Actually need 3 of them 🙂
Names - Charlotte, April, Lily 🙂
20-08-2013 3:58 PM
I can do those for you with embridered names. Give me the size you would like finished as I have no idea how much space those items would take up. Does colour matter? Plain or patterned fabric?
20-08-2013 4:03 PM
Plain or patterned, not too bothered, but would like in pinks/purples if possible? Size nees to be roughly 15" wide x 18" high, so they can use them for swimming gear too. 🙂 Do you want to PM me, am happy to send payment direct to your chosen Charity 🙂
20-08-2013 4:25 PM
I will message you Welshie.

Do you think there'd be any interest in off cuts of bubblewrap. Have loads of wobbly rectangles cut off one of our products wrapping to ensure it isn't too long? Have 2 carrier bagfulls. Would make up a package to fit through £2.60 slot but no idea yet whether it would be worth the punt. Not got much or time or energy at the moment.

I wont be listing for mdcc or for anything I make either on ebay.
I struggle to make pennies now on what I make and because its for our chosen charities its only the good hearts of the buyers we are able to donate what we can. The hike in RM postal charges earlier this year saw a decline in our sales and now ebay have put the boot in and tipped us over the edge.
I have moved to another place, a great improvement and our charities are benefitting greatly.

I know how you feel Dairy. I made a loss last month so absolutly nothing for my charity. I will see how this month goes before pulling out. Perhaps the answer is doing two big ones a year, say Xmas & Easter time rather than every month? It can sometimes be a struggle getting things together to list & then a struggle to sell them. Perhaps with some input from all of us MDCC'ers on this thread we can work something out?

Waves hello and long time no see... but was sad to read the previous posts.
Fees that are so crippling such a great way of supporting charities is carp and makes me think of taking the food out of the mouths of babes. 😞 Ebay don't need to resort to that!! Is there no way that ebay can reduce/cancel thier high charges so we're only left with RM hikes to deal with. I thought charging for our postage was outrageous and makes us pay twice.
Rant over!!
The reason I did pop in was because of Streety's thread on depression and thought I'd like to do something for them/others suffering in the same way. I think you're all so brave and I'd like to auction 3 small signs in aid of Mind UK if it goes ahead this w'end.
Wishing everyone a good a day as possible.

i would like to keep mdcc going if we can as i enjoy it and it has given me something to look forward to.i have half a dozen things ready to list.so lets keep our fingers crossed that it picks back up again.
21-08-2013 1:28 PM
I will be listing but it is very demoralising.
