Re: do i smell?

I think it's always a bit quiet over bank holiday weekends. How are you doing anyway K? Nearly at your four months smoke free!  And no you don't smell, well not from here anyway!

Re: do i smell?

Sorry to hear you have toothache T, in my opinion there is no worse pain. YUK ! Hate oil of cloves. Would Dr Jamesons tonic not be a lot better for it ?

Oh well if you have toothache you will not be wanting any of the stew I am cooking just although I must say by the time I have it ready the steak does just melt in your mouth.  ]:)

Re: do i smell?

omg how can i pass up stew............... i lurvs stew........:-x

hey corgi how do you make yours?

irish stew.........

stewing steak (or ribs)

loads of onions

carrots loads

stock cubes....... i use chicken..... about three

tons of potato

black pepper

salt to season

saute the onions till nearly carmelised,

add to pot of boiling water (and stock cubes)

add stewing steak or ribs

simmer for a couple of hours......... then

add potatoes and carrots....

season to taste with salt and black pepper

arent i good at giving ingredients........ but i use a huge stock pot for us all......so i make it up as i go along.

ps. bacon ribs are delicious....so salt and stock have to be limited.......take the ribs out at the end....and put under a hot grill

bejesus my mouth is watering:_|

Re: do i smell?

HT, dice the stewing steak, then pop into a hot pan to seal and brown.

Heat a little water in a pot and crumble beef stock cubes in, then add loads of onions, steak and black pepper. Let it simmer away for a couple of hours then add carrots and right near the end Bisto so no salt needed.

Usually served with creamed mashed potatoes and whatever vegetable we have the notion for that day ! Today it is going to be cabbage.

Re: do i smell?

Only having stew today because A**a had a nice wee bit in the reduced section ! Enough for the two of us, with enough left over for my lovely wife to have tomorrow if she wants it.

Re: do i smell?

What I call stew you might call casserole or hotpot or something because the only thing you have with it is dumplings.  You do the meat the same, then put it and the stock  in an enormous saucepan.  Add every root veg you can think of, celery, onions, kidney beans or other beans, garlic, curry powder, whatever you find in the cupboard, and simmer it as long as you like.  Delicious.:-x

Re: do i smell?

I love beef stew & dumplings too. Why do you use chicken stock cubes with beef Tara? Do you all make your dumplings with Atora Beef Suet?

Re: do i smell?

No but they are dead easy to make. Half weight suet to flour plus a pinch of salt. Drop them in boiling stew for the last part of cooking.
