Beware of exploding clothes pegs, i kid you not .
One of my plastic peg has just broken as i was pegging washing out & the spring in it has caused the broken plastic to hit me in the face & cut me . I dont mind seeing blood as long as its not mine

Yes happened to me as well, throwing them on the floor and stamping on them does make you feel slighty better.

Pegs are a pain in the butt. I have some from A*da at the moment - not the cheapest and they are lousy they fall apart very easily, i've not been injured by any but there are bits of pegs all over the communal garden! The others apologise for sometimes using my pegs but Ive told them not to bother as they are so lousy - even a breath of wind breaks them.
The best pegs I have ever used are from L*dl. I left them round my ex's house and think I should go get them back!! They are red and clear with rubber ends and a tulip/flower design on the end. Had them for 3 years with no breaks. If anyone ever sees these back in L*dl please please let me know as I will go and buy loads!

I think it's the sun that makes the plastic brittle. I've had them break and have sometimes hurt my fingers as they snap, but never any blood. Wooden ones last longer I think.

I've got those all-plastic ones, no metal clip to ping off and hurt you, - if the sun makes them brittle they just disintegrate harmlessly!

i have had my latest pegs about 3 yr, i do have a set of white crappy ones pinned on the washing line, darent use them as they break easily, but the have been out in all weathers constantly,
my last ones were wither poundland or wilko ones, reds and purples, greens and blues
hope your cut will not scar PCC

the ones I use are called storm pegs, we need them in NE Scotland, don't know if they are on sale all over the UK. They are just plastic, no spring in them, and hold the washing on really tight and seem to be lasting a long time. I bought them in a small local shop but will look and see if any of the supermarkets do them.

Thanks M&J just found some on here & the seller is in Scotland too ....never again will a peg ping me :^O

I have the aluminium pegs, they do cost more but saying that the one's I have at present have lasted me about 5 years and not a 1 broken so far

I always use wooden ones. Can't remember the last time I bought any, it must have been a good 10-15 years ago.
As a child (1950s) the gypsies used to come knocking on our door to sell ones they had made. They were the long wooden ones with a thin piece of metal from a tin can round them. My mum always bought some even if she didn't need them as she was worried the gypsies would put a curse on her for not buying!!

Wooden ones all the way though decent sized ones are beginning to be a rarity round here. Bought the last lot in Poundland and they are going when I locate bigger ones. Mine don't break, they disappear. OH leaves them all over the garden when he pulls the washing off the line and Sproglet's mission in life is hiding the pegs(all of them).

Pulling the washing off the line really irritates me woman next door does it so her pegs are either on the line or on the garden .
Mine are stored in a pink metal bucket 🙂
Where do you all keep your pegs ...still on the line or in a peg bag that you have to carry outside with the washing ?

Indoors. Keeps them dry.
At least it's your neighbour's garden.Imagine it was yours.

I keep mine in a little plastic basket and take them out when I hang the washing, then bring them in when I get the washing in. They live in the cupboard in the utility room along with the merlingoo and all the other washing liquids, fabric conditioners and ingredients for the next batch of merlingoo.:-D

Keep mine in an old ice-cream tub and they are kept in the brick-built shed in the garden.
Can't stand seeing pegs left on washing lines like some of my neighbours and my daughter!
I also use mine to seal bags in the freezer, and put them on the edge of a tablecloth on the garden table to stop the cloth blowing up. Wonderful invention clothes pegs - lots of uses.

Used to bring them in with the washing when we had the plastic ones and keep them in a peg bag but now with the aluminium ones I just leave them on the line ready and waiting for the next lot.

Inside in a peg bag. Sounds like a peg bag is needed for MDCC. Ice cream tub indeed! 😉 :^O
