Re: Your first pet.......

My first pet was a budgie as well and my dad used to breed them as well.  How odd is that CB?  We then had a dog which called Judy and then another dog called Micky.

Re: Your first pet.......

evidently Chris, he bred them in the garden shed built on the side of the house. One day a neighbours cat got in and ate the flippin' lot!!! he never bred them after that. I had only just been born, so I don't remember that.

Aaaww poor Snowy, nortyboy. such a shame he went to another family.

when I got married we had a dog, a ring neck parakeet, two lovebirds and a turquoise coloured budgie, fish, I think that's it!! we've had some marvellous dogs over the years, now we don't have anything, not until we retire!

Re: Your first pet.......

When I was about 6, my parents agreed on getting me a budgie, and Dad made a wooden cage painted pink, with a front made of metal bars with a little door.  When the cage was finished, Mum took me round to see some budgies bred by the parents of a boy in my class, and I chose a blue one which I named Twitta.  The same day Dad came home from work with two budgies - a green (Charlie) and a yellow with a lime front ( Sweetie Pie. ) They had not thought to decide who was getting the budgie! They all lived happily together in their big cage for many years.
