I ask this question as today I was driving through my nearest town and was amazed to see that somebody already has their tree up in the window, the window is decorated and they have their wreath on their front door.
Personally I think that mid November is far too early.
When do you put your tree/decorations up in preparation for the big day. I normally get the tree out of hiding around the 5th December. I know to many that would still be too early but I like to get into the spirit in December.

We normally put our tree and decorations up in mid December. When I was a child, the tree used to go up at the beginning of December in time for my birthday.

About 10 days/week before except cards which I pop on the strings on beams as they arrive

up on the evening of the 23rd, down the day after boxing day
too much clutter & **bleep** for any longer than that
we have a big tree in the lounge which we only use on christmas day anyway
we live in the kitchen
so its a smaller tree in there
but garlands and things usually creep in there before the 23rd

When I was at the pub they would go up mid november as usually the xmas parties are staring by then , but at home they go up 10 days before the big day mainly because we have littlies otherwise it would be 7.

Mine go up a week to ten days before Christmas on a weekend when I am off as it usually takes a day to clear the decks then put out the decs. which consist of loads of standing Santas, dangly legged santas and snowmen, I dont have things hanging from the ceiling or paper chains just standing pieces and garlands on the fireplace, dresser and up the side of the stairs. So this year it will be the 15th December, then they come down on New Years day, usually fed up with them by then and I never work then so have plenty of time to get them down, dust and put everything back where it belongs.

I usually put mine up about a week before Christmas. Each year it gets later and fewer decorations get put out.
But this year will be different! My cleaner can't wait for Christmas and can't wait to put my tree up and anything else I've got. The place will look like Santa's grotty............... You see!!!!
I told her she can only put them all up if she promises not to leave before she takes them all down again!!

Mid-December usually and take them down day after Boxing Day as I am fed up of them by then, and finding bits of tinsel everywhere.

We normally take our decorations down on twelfth night but this year, my mum was in hospital at the beginning of the year so I took them down the day she came out which was a day early. The only reason I took them down then was to stop my mum from doing it and her ending back in hospital again.

We put the tree up on 21st December - it was my daughter's birthday on the 20th so we didn't want to steal the day from her

They usually go up a week before, and come down on New Year's Eve.
This year they will be going up earlier as daughter and the grandchildren will be coming to stay for the weekend on 6th Dec, so the decorations will go up before they come.

I often used to think the same thing....but many people actually decorate and light their house up to collect for charity....what a good thing....not sure I would want the electricity bill after Christmas though.
If it is done for a charity or for other such good cause then they have a pat on the back from me

There are a couple of houses about 2 miles away from where I live that are all decorated outside for Christmas. In fact, the decoarations stay up all year round but they will soon be well lit up for the Festive season. I wouldn't like the electricity bills either.

I put mine up at some point just before xmas and it gets put away on New Years Day.. Always cry when I put them away as it's another year gone without my dad who after all this time I still miss so much.
I would love to put icicle lights up on the outside but I cant climb up that high!

I have to admit we don't put any decorations up or have a tree. We still have Christmas and I enjoy present buying or making and wrapping them and making them pretty. But neither of us are really bothered about all the decs etc. We did used to, then they went up usually on Christmas Eve or the day I finished work for Christmas and came down soon after!
As we've matured, we both seem to have become a little cynical about Christmas

We usually get the tree about 2 weeks before, real ones are not cheap so we wouldn't spend £40 on a tree for any less than 3-4 weeks. I don't think decs should go up before december though its too early [except in special circumstances]

First full weekend in December, and if it was up to me I wouldn't bother with any at all.....
