I have a kindle fire HD and do find it sometimes difficult outside because of glare, mind you having said that I also find that it lives in Miss S's room rather too much for my liking 😐

You know what to buy her for Christmas them Stan :^O
I've just booked a last minute holiday, it the only time I sit & read :^O I was thinking it would save taking lots books, although I've loads I still haven't read I was wondering about a kindle fire vs just a book reader 😐
04-05-2013 4:58 PM
I actually think I prefer books but I am thinking of less to carry 🙂

I only have it as I won it through work so it's sort of a perk of the job
Big company's always send out freebies to IT company's like ours in the hope you'll install things, take out large contracts or recommend them to corporate clients.
They tend to be raffled off within the company though to raise money for the local hospice :-x

i use the book reading app on my 7" tablet
fairly easy to download books to it
does internet , angry birds, i can have a memory card but havent yet needed to use it
i havent been out in the sun but use the dark background white text for reading in bed
my only complaint has been the battery length so i make sure i turn of the wifi if im reading or playing games
04-05-2013 6:38 PM
well I've just read some reviews & the kindle fire has quite a few saying "not great in sunlight" ..... as thats more or less the only place I will use it it seems the basic or paperwhite reader, is going to be my best buy .... I just downloaded the app on my phone but I think it will drain the battery really fast if I use that 😐 ............. unless anyone has that new "nook" reader which cur*ys have atm with a massive £50 off ...... does that mean its rubbish & no one wants them ?:|

Sorry, I didn't see your post Towery 🙂
I don't have a tablet, its a shame because I just upgraded my phone a couple of weeks ago & could have got one with the upgrade for an extra £5 a month but didn't think I would use it :_|

I have a first generation Kindle and only use it in the sun now. It syncs with my iPad and phone so I can read things on any. Hightara has a great 'tool' to use with it. I've still got unread books at the moment but then I'll be emailing her every week!
04-05-2013 7:47 PM
What kind of "tool" 😮
I think I'll be having a trip to Argooose tomorrow then I have a few days to play & upload 🙂

B-) A very useful one.

I have the kindle paperwhite and find it great both in bright sunlight and indoors

I have a paperwhite one and it is really easy to use and read. However also love books and have loads and loads and loads and am sure the ceilings will give way one day.
The main problem with the kindle is it doesn't cuddle mugs of coffee very well(is a slob) and I , somehow, really object to buying a book for a fiver and then have nothing tangible to show for it.
Our local library offers download loans but not onto a Kindle. Have downloaded the system they use onto my phone but haven't found anything I really want that they haven't hardcopy of. Besides the number of loans a month is so paltry.

I have a Kobo touch which I love.
I use it mostly on holiday as its so much easier than taking lots of paperbacks.
Downloading to it is easy and there are quite a few free books and ones for a few pence too.
Reading in the sun is fine on holiday, never had an issue with it even in Tenerife in July (and rarely a problem here in Glasgow LOL!).
My sister puts books on her Ipad and she can't read it in the sunshine.
