What is your Downton Name and would you be upstairs or downstairs.
You take the first name of one of your grandparents and then the name of your primary school. Once you have ascertained that....would you be upstairs or downstairs.
Mine is Jessica St Cuthbert
This name screams "upstairs"

Mine is Ellen James Allen
Ellen was in service - a housemaid - but the double surname sends her upstairs, do you think?
The alternative is Pearl James Allen - she would undoubtedly be nicknamed Pearl Jam today!! which I think is a rock or pop group?? (& she'd be furious at that - she was a strict lady, a farmers daughter who had kept her father & five bros in order after their mother died)

I had the choice of Edith or Gertrude! Gertie sounds a bit common! lol The school was Runnymead-House so double barreled! lol

I wonder when Gertrude will come back into fashion again? Most names do
My Mum was Elsie, & she hated it for being old-fashioned even when she was a girl
She was aghast when in her eighties she encountered little tots named Elsie
I think Elsie is a pretty name
