Water supply.

If only they had competition!!!!!

OH got in yesterday, hot and sweaty and tired and wanting a bath.  It was dark brown.  So he phoned Southern Water to ask what was happening to the supply.

Apparently water turns brown without them being aware of it and they are not interested

Apparently it will clear in a couple of hours and "you'll just have to wait for your bath" WHY should he

Apparently the only way to clear the brown quickly is to run the taps but you have to pay for that(metered water) Why should we

Apparently it's none of their concern whether your water is brown or not because they didn't make it brown.  Hmm.  If we supplied goods not fit for purpose we wouldbe in trouble.

To add insult to injury -  whilst waiting for a human they were requesting donations to charity to enable deprived Africans to have clean fresh water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 bathfuls later and the water was at least cleaner than himself.

So not a good conversation but may amuse somebody.

This explains water discolouration. Quite interesting. You may be able to get some money back because you are on a meter, but it may not be worth it the hassle.  (I'm not metered and it has never occurred to me to wonder how much a bathfull of water costs....)

Of course it is their responsibility!  The Service they are supposed to give is to supply water that is clean and ready for use!  I would be asking to speak to someone higher up the Authority ladder Guardpig, especially if you are on a meter and having to pay more in order for it to run clear!

What really annoyed me was some twerp in an air conned office telling a man who pays his water bill by working physically harder than twerp has ever done in his life that he can just wait a couple of hours for a bath. Really not diplomatic now was it?  Especially considering who is paying twerps wages!.

Oh, I know exactly why the water is discoloured and who caused it and judging by the power cuts and on/off flickers with power last week the cowboy builders at the bottom of the road are connecting to and then flushing crud into the water supply.  Said cowboy builders are a big national company whose HO will be getting a call if it happens again. They are currently building a select terrace of desirable rabbit hutches houses in a  totally undesirable convenient location on the site of an ex-pub.   Only the gas to go hopefully.

I know this is not quite the same.

A river runs through the middle of the village, walking up into the village i notice a dead sheep stuck on a sand/pebble bank in the middle of the river near the bridge, phone enviromental agency (same one that gives flood alerts) and was told it was good for the river system, thank goodness it wasn't the middle of summer or there would have been bluebottles everywhere. Someone managed to push it into the flowing part of the river eventually as it was very close to housing and shops
