Washing Machine Help, please

The last few times I have done the washing the soap powder has remained as a gungy mess in the dispenser drawer'; also, the section where the fabric conditioner goes has remained full of water, although the conditioner has gone. I can't get the drawer out, so have had to clean it as best I can, but wondered if anyone can suggest what the problem is and how to fix it. Thanks.

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

I've had another go with it and given it a good yank; scrubbed it, lovely and clean now and it shuts ever so easy, it used to catch before. Thanks everyone for your help. Smiley Happy

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

You really need to get the drawer out & give everything a scrub as there seems to be a blockage somewhere.

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

I have just had the same problem but luckily I was able to get the drawer out, and put some week bleach solution down the pipe that goes from the drawer to the machine, I bought something called service it by dr beckman for £3.30 and ran the machine on a 60 degree full wash empty and gave the drawer a good clean now it is working fine, sounds like the blockage is probably in the pipe that goes from the drawer to the machine, Sounds odd that you cant get the drawer out, what sort of machine is it ?

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

with my draw you use to have to pull it out as far it will go and then lift the front quite hard then give it a good clean .that is one reason why i changed to washing liquid.smiley-chores003.gif

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

Mine got like that, sometimes you have to tilt the drawer up a little and give it a bit more of a pull to get it out??. Then i gave mine a good scrub. I know it can get horribly gungy. Give the drawer another pull maybe it might come out?.Smiley Happy

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

It's an Indesit; I'll have another go at getting the drawer out, though I might break it if I was too rough with it. Don't have the instructions as it was 2nd hand a few years ago.

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

Certainly seems like you need to clean the drawer and the surrounding area.  Mine is a Bosch and I pull the drawer out as far as possible and then press down on the bit in the middle above where the conditioner goes and pull the drawer right out.  I haven't used powder for years now, ever since hubby showed my the hard blocks of white stuff in the drains. He thought it was solid fat, but I never use it, and if I did I wouldn't put it down the drain (especially as we're not on main drainage).  I realised it must be washing powder, so now I use liquid.  The same for the dish washer too, no powder anymore.Smiley Happy

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

We mostly use liquid, but on the odd occasion when we use powder the powder is put in the drum with the clothes, and we have always found that you can cut the amount recommended by a third.

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

Yes cookie its bold liquid tabs 2 in 1 for me from now on straight in the drum, I haven't used powder for years, but after a while it builds up when you put it in the drawer, now I have worked out that brute force gets the drawer out I don't want to risk it again so drum it is.

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

i found the liquid tabs never disolved at 30 or 40 degrees washes but did at higher temps.so i now stick to normal liquid that i just squirt into the machine3.gif

Re: Washing Machine Help, please

My machine is a Zanussi and the soap dispenser drawer has the tab release too, bit fiddly buy once you get the hang of the release bit you should not need to force it.

We had the builder in a couple of weeks ago so decided to clean the drains while the chance was there. The build up of powder around the drain pipes was unbelievable, big chunks of it came away with the power hose, ive not used powder in the machine for a couple of years so it must be to do with low temp water why it gets this bad. I will never use powder again.
