I wonder if someone would be so kind as to help me. My new laptop runs on Windows 8 and I'm having the devils own job in downloading photos. I've managed to download one photo but cannot find out how to rename it or do anything else for that matter. Any help will be gratefully accepted before I lose the plot completely.

Sorry books, my new lappy was windows 8 and I couldn't get on with it at all. Son in law changed it to 7 but it wasn't the same, hence another new computer a few months later!
But having said that, I'm useless with computers anyway, so you might find it ok with a little help. I hope so.

Thanks CG. I've got my other lappy which is Windows 7 in for repair at the moment. I think that photos will have to be sorted out on that one. I should have that fixed by 4pm. Computers are alright when they work but I think that with Windows 8, you need a Philadelphia lawyer to sort it out.
Thanks again CG.

Windows 8 is a dream for photos, very quick and easy
computers only work when you know what you are doing
attach your camera, turn it on
an icon will appear (mine is top right of teh screen) saying your computer detects it
click it, you will have 3 (maybe 4 options)
click the first one, to import (says import photos and videos)
you can either choose all, or pick which ones you want by deselecting "all" and clicking the ones you do want
name your folder, (at the bottom) and they will go in there
now its done, you can go into the folder, the icon is one the "done" part
now you can rename them and do what you want with them

Thanks a lot Merlin. I will try that later. Thanks again.

its like everything else, once you do it a few times you wont think about it
windows 8 can be a bit daunting if you dont use apps/smartphones
but the photo bit is really good, once you get used to it

I am getting used to Windows 8, but I still dislike it. Fortunately my ultrabook that runs on Windows 7 is working perfectly at present, so I only need to use the lap-top occasionally.

Thanks for the replies. Must admit that I still prefer Windows 7. So far, I still think that there's to much fiddling around. I suppose that I will get used to it eventually.

I've managed to download photos to the computer but the problem I have now is on how to send them to documents. I'm at screaming point with it at the moment. I didn't think I was thick until I got this computer but Windows 8 is doing my head in at the moment.

Chris I have just had awful trouble putting a picture on here, the way I usually do it has disapeared and I had to save it to a document and then import it, I have no idea why it has changed it was so simple before,

I think there is something wrong because the above message was rejected because the picture was too large, but I didn't put a picture in. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks ed. I'll try that. I managed yesterday after trying for about and hour and a quarter. Why do Microsoft have to make things difficult?

Managed it but don't ask how. I think that it was more by good luck than good judgement. I hope that I can manage to do it next time but don't hold your breath.
