Well, he grew his feathers back on his chest, then a few weeks later started to lose them again, and now they are growing back again. BUT.....what is worrying me is that he has almost stopped swearing!!!! His main phrases now are "Stop it" closely followed by "Give up." AND he is talking in a quieter voice. Just wanted to share that bit of lightheartedness with you, seeing as I am bored as there is nothing on TV only football! Maybe he is just maturing

I used to have a sexually frustrated budgie. He used to rub himself up against his mirror! lol He was fully feathered though.

Mind you i suppose they would get a bit frustrated its only Bird and Human nature!!!. Hell have to go Speed dating or Tweet dating LOL. Its off to the shops Carol to get him a little girlfriend!!!!!!!!!.

If I get him a girlfriend, he'll probably stop talking, Rose. Anyway, that might not be what's wrong with him, LOL I've rearranged his perches and toys today, to stop the boredom for him and he seems quite happy with it. Also put his mirror nearer to a perch, so he's been talking to his reflection; he might be thinking, "Who's that baldy!" Hopefully hear more this week from the vet, but what she has suggested so far, like a referral to a specialist vet 30 miles away, won't be cheap; it's not really viable to spend a few hundred pounds on a Budgie; it's not as though he is distressed. Will keep you updated.

is it possible just for a lady bird either to visit or he could visit her?
i think if that is the cause then id rather have a non talker than a sad featherless bird

Im sorry carol im laughing at when you said it wont be CHEAP!!!. Dont you mean TWEETTTT!!!. OMG,, ignore me ha ha . Poor little Tweet. You would think they would talk to each other if another bird was there that surprises me!!!. My friends bird wont say anything much but if you leave her alone and walk out the room she squawks like a gooden!!!!!. And sometimes she will lunge her head at you and do a little squawk as if shes trying to scare you or say"who you looking at?". Their funny things birds,, they have their little personalities like all animals and birds.

Thanks, Sam, will Google the feather loss.
Tweet hasn't bothered with the mirror since, maybe he thinks he isn't such a catch after all with a chest like that, LOL I read that about mirrors, CB, don't put one in the cage if you want the bird to talk.
They are quite complicated little birds; when I got Tweet a new cage, a year ago, he wouldn't eat; I left him to it for a couple of days, then put the swing from his old cage into the new one and he started eating straightaway.
I should have put it won't be "CHEEP" Rose, ha,ha.
I'll have to rule out mites etc as a cause of the fveather loss before I get him a girlfriend; no-one round here keeps Budgies, so I can't borrow one unfortunately.
He was using his naughty words last night, maybe he didnt want a cage "makeover"
Update you when I can; thanks for the replies and advice. We certainly love our pets on this site, don't we?

I'll tell him, Sam I'm getting a bit worried about him now as he seems to be nibbling himself and is starting to get feather loss on his back now. Going down to the pet shop to get some mite spray; better than doing nothing whilst waiting for the vets colleague to get in touch with her; they dont rush do they? They must be on a par with when we have to wait to see a consultant! Not sure if Budgies do mate for life to be honest. I've always only kept one Budgie at a time and never had a problem before. Hope the spray will help him.

I've put his cage back to how it was yesterday; At the moment he's jumping up and down nodding to himself in his mirror and kissing his reflection. Blimey, LOL
Given him one dose of the mite spray, will give another one tomorrow.
Yes, will keep you posted, Rose

Do you let him out to fly round the room?
15-07-2014 8:55 AM
Hi Joe, no. I don't let him fly round. He did get a fly round the vets room last week, when he got away
I've got a bath for him, CB, but all he does is have a drink from it then use it as a toilet! But I do spray him with tepid water, maybe will have to do it more often. Given him another spray with the mite spray and he seems alot better this morning, so lets hope thats the problem.

Aww bless you, Rose. Yes, he loves the warm weather and the sunshine; when the sun is out he sings/talks his little head off. He's always quieter on an overcast day. xxxx
