Turkey, Goose or Duck

We usually have turkey and beef on Christmas day and ham on boxing day.  I'm not keen on goose and there's nothing on a duck.

Could you eat this????

If you have goose you will have the fat to make lovely roasties till the following Christmas !!!

Don't need so many extras either as is very tasty and my goose was cheaper than a lot of free range turkeys last year !!!

Depends how many of you there are. I always have duck on 'the day' as it's just me & Damson here but when the family arrive later in the week we have a big joint & a small Turkey. I love duck!

None of the above! We have chicken as (a) it is smaller (b) the kids prefer chicken and (c) there is so little left over with the chicken thereby alleviating the need to eat cold chicken for weeks after christmas. Tried a goose the year before last...it cost an absolute fortune and there was really not that much meat on the bird. Sometimes the boys will have lamb on boxing day though

Ours is already in the freezer.  A couple of weeks back, we bought a turkey crown.  As there's only two of us, that will be ample.

We go for a turkey crown plus a veggie option for me 🙂

Gammon for boxing day, but to be honest with just one adult eating it and 2 kids the two would last forever so we usually end up cooking a curry and freezing it.

I usually go shopping on Christmas eve, in the afternoon so plans may change after a visit to the reductions section

I hope you meant the critter in the front of the piccie and not the two in the backsuprised smiley.gif

I've never eaten goose.....

Turkey for us, I find Goose can be greasy and the kids don't like duck,

so Turkey it is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,simples.

Although we may be having a big family meal out this year.

It was my turn to host last year so I cooked for 22.

Will be glad of a rest this year.

Turkey is supposed to be good for you.  My mum has a turkey sandwich before she goes to bed as it is supposed to help you sleep.

That was Ozzie  (the gossie) that we reared.  He used to sleep with the dogs.  Smiley Happy

With a bit of luck there will be no Xmas dinner, I am hoping to be able to help out at the emergency shelter for the homeless. What is served there will depend on what we can beg or get very cheaply, but it is highly unlikely to be turkey, goose or duck.

Son said he'll cook again this year.  He did it last year including home made stuffing and home made Christmas pudding and made his own bread while looking after his two young daughters, of 3 and 7.    There were nine for dinner and 14 for tea.  I can't compete with that!

I always love Turkey and am surprised at many people not liking it. With lots of nice gravy it will not be dry and cooked right. I do like Duck but not as much.OOOhhhhh yummy yums.

Not sure what we'll be doing/having as ghe powers that be where hubby works haven't yet sorted out the christmas rota so no one there knows if they'll be working or not (in fact new boss has decided to change everyones rotas so no one knows what they'll be doing next week let alone christmas!)
Normally have a turkey crown on christmas day if he's about, & a beef joint on Boxing Day.

If it was up to me I would have Beef on Christmas Day as well as Boxing day but hubby likes his birds, I like goose, however I like to have cold meat the day after Boxing day and there usually isn't much left for cold cuts.  So it will probably be Turkey again.
