Seeing as some of you have really taken Tweet the Budgie to your hearts, I thought he should have his own special fan club thread where you can post your good wishes for his Xray on Wednesday or anything else you want to write. So far his fan club consists of Rose; Capn B; Sam; Chris.

Hopes that Tweet is feeling better today.

I hadn't realised about the honey bars; he hasn't got any in the cage now. Yes he does pick uo new words quickly, that's why I have to be careful what I say, LOL
Sam - the grit is from the pet shop, in a plastic bag. He usually eats some every day. Complicated knowing what to do for the best re. the expensive diet food, not giving him free access to the grit etc.

to be honest I wouldn't bother with the diet food for now. Stopping the honey treats should make a big difference in the short term. If he needs to loose more weight (blerdy hell, it's only a wee budgie!!!!!) then you could consider the diet food then.
Maybe you could make his treat a piece of millet? you can buy 3 or 4 pieces in a bag and that should be good for him, just reduce the amount of seed you give him that day. Our budgies used to go bonkers for the stuff! we used to gather it along the hedgerow on our way home.

Thanks, CB, will see how he gets on without the honey bars; unfortunately, he never touches his millet spray. The first budgie I've had that doesn't like millet!

No he doesn't fly round much, CB. Maybe, as you said, without the honey bars he might be more interested in the millet. Oh he is soooo happy, bless him. Think the feather loss is extending though

The Vet told me that in the wild, Budgies fly between 5 and 10 miles per day!

I didn't realise that budgies flew so far each day. It just goes to show that you learn something new everyday.

How is our Tweet today?
You don't think he's a closet nudist do you ?
.
Well if he ain't already, he's soon gonna be, LOL
He's very happy, thank you everyone who has asked after him, he really appreciates it and he loves his little fan club. I've changed my mind and have ordered some of the special diet food for him, it should arrive next week; hope he likes it at £7 for a small bag. Like the vet said, it will be a slow process getting him to lose weight with the food alone, but I feel better for giving it a go; and if it IS fat round his hair follicles that is causing the feather loss, then that should improve. Will keep you updated.xxxx

I hope that Tweet enjoys the food and I hope that he manages to lose some weight.

Tweet can be very stubborn when it comes to change, Rose, and can hold out until he gets his own way (well - a typical male, really!) I, too, hope he will eat it, not sure when it will arrive.xxxx

My Cat Bubbles is like that,,,you have to try and fool her into eating or trying different things!. Then she stands there looking up at me as if to say "no mum now we know thats not right dont we?". And then she stalks away. Shes definately one intelligent CAT!!!!. I put the treat goody bag biscuits on her food to make her eat it,then she wont eat it any more if the biscuits aren"t on it!!. Made a rod for my own back there!!!. I shout at her ,then say sorry i shouted Bubbles ha ha ha LOL.LOOOOL. I know what your thinking Crazy cat Woman?.

Join the club CB. I have lost just under a stone but need to lose a lot more.

Actually, CB, on the info leaflet it says if the bird won't eat it, try some yourself and if he sees you eating it, he might be tempted. Think I'll give that one a miss, LOL
