Tablets...

The ones you do stuff on, not the medicinal ones!

I've been saving nectar points for ages and have about ten million (ok, slight exaggeration maybe, but a lot)

and am thinking of getting a tablet with some of them.

I would like one that I can email, internet, google, take & store photos on, write things on and, here's the tricky bit, has a usb port and/or some way of getting photos onto/off of.

Having done some research and not being very knowledgeable on these matters, I've kind of narrowed it down to a GalaxyTab2 or a A2B something-or-other, in 10 inch size.

Has anybody got either of these, the latter of which I'd never heard of until very recently, but son has a 7" one that seems good.  Or any other recommendations of tablets that can fulfil all my requirements please?  The only one I've ever seen with usb is the A2B or whatever it's called.

Any info for a techno-numpty gratefully appreciated!

I love my Kindle Fire which does all that.

Taking photos is the only slightly iffy thing imo - doesn't compare to a camera. It's a bit hit and miss as forward facing screen ( for skype ) so can't see what I'm taking when I point it at the furries, but take photos off to pc easily - and put books etc on the same way easily 🙂

Does e-mail, notes, games etc.

Oh thanks people, I didn't know you could get a usb adapter thingy although I should have guessed there was something to do the job.

I had another look this morning but the more I look, the more confused I get!

I have an Ipad here and it does all that too. 🙂 I think the Ipad mini does too.

The one my son's got is @tab which he got from Sbury's.

Some people say that the I-Pad is expensive and over-rated in that, although very good, it costs more than the others on the market and doesn't do anything that most of them do.  Difficult isn't it?  But is it because everybody seems to have an i-pad or i-phone an almost all the accessories etc you can get are compatible with those that people choose them?  I don't know.

The i-pad equivalent of what I'm looking to get costs about £400/450-00 it seems, whereas the Galaxy one is £249-00 and the @tab £149-00 for what appears to be the same stuff.

its a great bit of kit.............. i tend to steer well away from apple products, as you are too much tied into their apps.

if you have a Staples try them on a weekend(when the younger into everything ones are working) and get the info you need.  We have found them really helpful.  On one occasion they sold us an end of line(ie not quite current spec) unknown make lappy when we had actually gone to look at netbooks, they talked us through why the netbooks we'd considered weren't up to the job, pointed out the new ones were dearer than basic lappies and why not buy this one because if all it was wanted for was xyz it would do that and more and must admit - it has.  Only problem is once you get them started they don't stop, in our store they also don't pressure you to buy.

Thanks, will check it out.  I did ask about Nexus 7 but was advised it was made with gaming in mind, so I thought maybe not as (a) I'm not intensively into gaming and (b) I wouldn't be able to get it off my son LOL!
