She didn't know what it was until I told her, no-one had ever heard of them. She didn't say what she was going to try but probably a selection. I gave her a parcel of fruit, couple of bananas, couple of apples, four kiwi fruit and a punnet of apricots. I also put in a jar of cinnamon and just put about 100grms of soft brown sugar into a double thickness plastic bag. She just asked me what the 'powder' in the bag is?
Still on the topic of 'never seen before' gadgets, she got a Yorkshire pudding 'stone' 2 or 3 months ago but I only saw it on Christmas day for the first time. It's like a twelve hole bun tin but made of stone. She got it from a Pampered Chef party. It's amazing because you pour the batter into it cold with no oil at all, and they come out of the oven about six inches tall!:O

no, they are good
they do what needs doing, but there really wasnt anything, we watched a rubbish film and have played games, and there is loads of food, so it was just a case of opening the fridge & onto a plate,
they remember now that i rock at "stop the bus!":^O
thousands pounds of electronic stuffs, and we had so much fun playing a game with pencil & paper!
Fridge to plate sounds a good idea 🙂
We were playing cards lol and we enjoyed that, i certainly enjoyed it more that the electronic games 🙂

28-12-2010 9:56 AM
Morning all. Raining a bit here. Turkey is in.:-D
28-12-2010 9:59 AM
morning!!!:-D
(merry christmas Maggie & family!!!!)
woke up and all our snow has gone:O
1st time in around 6 weeks
it looks odd now:^O
and we have rain, and above freezing temps
going back to the yorkshire pudding stone
pizzas are much better made when you cook them on a stone chickengrandma, italians have been doing it for years, (hence the name stone baked pizza) but things like scones etc are also better made on them
pizza stones vary in price and quality, you get them with handles for ease of use, and they are suddenly now called "baking stones" and have an extra tenner on the price
so if you are thinking of buying a baking stone, buy a pizza stone
they are one and the same, just a different price tag!

Yes but merlin, the batter would run off the edges!:^O What surprised me was the fact that usually, one of the most important things in getting a good Yorkshire pudding is having the fat bubbling hot, whereas with this, it's 'stone' cold and there is no fat!:O
Have a good day Maggie.:-x

Good afternoon 🙂
I found a good way to make fabby yorkshire puds is to get 3 cups or tubs the same size, in one crack 1 large egg, in the other put plain flour so that it looks the same amount as the egg, and in the last milk to the same level, pop it all into one bowl add your salt (if you use salt), give it a good beating and let it rest for 20 mins, give a little tickle before putting into hot fat.
Dont you heat the stone first CGrandma ?

No gems, that's my point, you pour the batter into the cold bun tin with no fat at all, pop it in the hot oven and they rise as if by magic!:O :^O

Wow, strange but sounds fun, and healthy, i would be making yorky puds just for the fun of it, brecky dinner & tea :^O

😄 yorkies n gravey hmmmm sounds nice 🙂
28-12-2010 2:37 PM
i cant make yorkies:_|
bradley loves them with cumberland sausage and onion gravy insde a big one
nothing i do vagualy resembles a yorkie
they either mutate into a volumous monster of pastry that tries to escape out the oven
or, i have one hooge flat biscuit
i dont think its possible to actually make a yorkie yourself
i think fairies knit them
and everyone buys them and passes them off as their own:^O
Maggie makes them, she posted pictures
i almost licked the screen!
28-12-2010 3:21 PM
:^O
I now have visions of you licking the screen :^O
I lurve homemade yorkies, and i'm the only fairy here 😄
28-12-2010 4:13 PM
😐
i got the knitting sticks out
and some wool i had (for making sock monkey hair)
i cast on 32 stitches, as per instructions
"knitted" 4 lines
i now have 33 stitches, 32 loops, and 2 holes
and, i obviously used the begining bit of the wool to "go over" instead of the bit coming off the ball, as the end is wiggling out through the middle:^O
why is my first row ( the bottom bit now) all loops?
and how good am i at being able to do holes already?:^O
open work i think its called?
ooooooooh lacemaking next!:^O

Evening
Wasn't to well yesterday evening so went to bed @ 6pm!!
Felt better this morning and we've been to the sales. Was actually ok - boys went off by themselves and spent their money together. MrH went off by himself and I wandered around on my ownsome. Got a gorgeous pair of boots in clarks and a very me skirt in Monsoon 🙂 Rest of family spent out too - loads of clothes/shoes/itunes vouchers - one happy household.
Was really warm today a heady 5 degrees!! It will go warm now I have the most perfect pair of ski mittens!!
28-12-2010 4:40 PM
oops at the knitting Merlin!! Sounds fairly standard for a beginner. Hence my first couple of things were dishcloths!!
28-12-2010 4:45 PM
glad you're feeling better hippy:-D
i think whatever i am doing, its too loose
i shall keep going
although i think my technique isnt quite right
one needle doesnt move, and the other is like i am rowing a boat:^O
if i master this enough to make a squarey blankie i shall be chuffed! at the moment its a barbie scarf!
28-12-2010 5:02 PM
Go for it 🙂
I started my squarie blankie last January - from novice to improved novice in under 12 months 🙂
I did manage to finish the wrist warmers for my sister for Boxing Day - got up early and knitted like my life depended on it 🙂 and they fitted perfectly 🙂
