I am trying to be arty crafty this year and making most of my gifts, wheat & lavendar heat bags and such like.
For all you peeps out there who like to knit, I know where there are some knitting booklets for teddy bears and clothes 😉

I did heat bags last year. I love mine.:-) The lavender doesn't last long though.

Morning ladies.:-D It's very wet and windy here. I don't think it's stopped raining since it started yesterday lunchtime.:-(
I'm just waiting for my baby granddaughter to arrive, what fun!:|

Wet and windy here too.
We had hailstones and a flurry of snow last night 😞
For those who have done heat bags, what fabric did you use please? Read somewhere that somebody used fleece, which melted when heated 😮

Morning Ladies 🙂
wet windy and blah!
Going to go get my cutting blades for the machine today, so i should be able to do some sewing later 🙂
My christmas list has grown by 2 this year, nieces & nephews are grown up, but they have babies, in total just 18 to provide for. 9 are small items, 4 are medium and 5 are too much, could do with winning the lottery 😄
needs must, have a nice day :-x

the old lady who died, and the baby found with the smouldering one

Is that to heat in the microwave Merlin?
09-11-2010 10:57 AM
I like to use calico for the inner bag on my heat bags, then an outer cover of soft cotton, brushed cotton, nothing with nylon in it though.
I just top up the lavendar smell with lavendar oil every now and then, just a couple of drops, lasts ages.

Grrr @ lavendar!! should be lavender of course, my bad fingers hitting wrong keys today.

Good Morning 😄
Knitting patterns look good ..... but 3 & 4 ply 😞
MIL went into a Care Home on Sat so hopefully having a drive across to see how she is settling in soon.
Hope the wind drops 😮

I know nothing about knitting 😞 Used to enjoy crocheting, but fingers are getting a bit too stiff these days.
09-11-2010 11:59 AM

Hope she settles in CK, it will be a weight off your mind if she likes it there.:-x

I never really learnt to crochet, I can do it, but could never follow a pattern ..... except for cherry's 😄
09-11-2010 12:17 PM
Sorry CG, I didn't see you there :8}
I hope she does, she really isn't safe living alone anymore, last week when she came to us she had burns on her legs from falling asleep in front of the fire & has lost loads of weight as she can't remember how to cook anymore so lives on sandwiches 😞
The place she has gone sounds lovely, BIL spent ages looking for a suitable place for her, but we haven't seen it yet.
09-11-2010 12:18 PM
sounds like she is going to the very best place for her CK
she may take a wee while to settle in, but fingers crossed she loves it,
the company will do her as much good as the care

I also make the bag to hold the wheat out of calico & then make an envelope style cover from brushed cotton or flanelette. You are suppose to just put the inner wheat pad in the microwave not the whole thing. Particularly if it's a soft toy.
