longest |I've ever been in proper labour is 90mins...

made up for it though in the  frequent stays in hospital to keep them in as long as possible.. and the even more frequent visits to Scubu afterwards..

😞 Must have been very worrying, I hope they're all fit and well now.  I was in labour for 72 hours with the first (9.3) but I was unconscious for the second and that was only about 4 or 5 hours, much better.:-D

I don't think smoking makes that much difference, in weight I mean, not in general.  I was a smoker as 40 years ago you weren't advised to stop, and as stated, he was 9lb 3oz!  I think chez means they were premature.

when i was expecting my first they seemed to be having a big push against smoking mothers - and the girl in the next bed to be had her boy weigh just  less than 5lb, they wouldnt left him out til he was 5lb or over, she was most annoyed , she was a smoker - never stopped , they were always having to find her when he woke up

the 2 of my cousins that smoke had smaller babies - even the one who hass 4 girls

I really don't know if it does make that much difference, the mother of this new baby doesn't smoke, nor the father.  There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it does there?

We've just had an old friend visit for the second time in a couple of weeks, after not seeing him for years. He's just found out he has prostate cancer and is so frightened, he can't sleep or work, it's difficult to know what to say to him.:-(

CG - my Grandad had prostate cancer - he had regular visits to the docs and I think he had injections to help keep it under control. He was a great believe in diet to help and whatever he did seemed to work as the cancer levels reduced greatly.

Sadly he died in May - not from the cancer or any effects of that but of a chest infection.
