THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

i like the doors shut while the heating is warming the rooms, most of the downstairs doors have the radiators behind them when  opened, OH would rather leave everything wide open - hates shutting one door as it makes him feel trapped,  there is  an open archway at the other side of the radiator leading to the kitchen

the upstair radiators are differently placed

We have all the doors open apart from the toilet doors, usually because we are all in different rooms

Afternoon all.  We had a frost this morning.  It's now clouded over and there's quite a breeze got up as well.  We have nearly all of the doors closed apart from when my mum goes into the kitchen and she leaves the doors open.  It's like a fridge.

Morning all.

It's a little on the cool side here again this morning but not cold enough for a frost - thankfully.

At least I can get out to town and then for my swim without any problems.

Hope that everyone is as well as can be expected and hugs to all that need them.

Evening all.

The weather here has been mixed.  It was bright and sunny if somewhat chilly up to about 1pm.  Since then, it's been cloudy and it's just started raining.  The weather for the rest of the week for us is mixed.

I'm cold today, was sat in the kitchen sewing this morning and I think I got too cold and I can't shift it off now.

That's another day gone now, I'm ticking them off!!! it all seems to be going so quickly.

Hope that you enjoyed doing your sewing today CB.  I've carrying on with knitting a jumper for my mum.  She's decided that she will try doing the sleeves herself which I'm pleased about as I was supposed to be doing it all.  Mum thought that the pattern would be too hard but she's discovered that the pattern is easier than she thought it would be.

Thanks CB.  I love my knitting.  My mum always says that I knit better than she does.  I don't think so though.  My mum's better at doing Fair Isle than I am.  I can knit patterns with diffent shapes like squares and triangles in different colours with no problem but anything else with more one colour and I seem to knit it too tight for some reason.

What have you been making CB?

THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Good Evening everyone.

Well, it's been an interesting day - We negotiated that I could have a shower provided that I was supervised / assisted. We finally reached an agreement that I could go to my meeting at the City Council if I could get myself dressed with no assistance. I'm not letting on how difficult it was or how long it took, but I managed it. Discussed play areas, street cleaning, rubbish collections and the new visitor logging system.

Long discussion by the medical team as to whether they could do an MRI scan, some doubt because of the fairly extensive internal metalwork. They finally decided that they would go ahead with it, but it hasn't shown any reason for the ongoing numbness.

Have almost finished Katy's jumper - should be able to sew it up tomorrow.

CB I have been sat in the kitchen today, making more earrings, this rate I shall be setting up my own shop.  I am really enjoying making them, I shall be going back to my card making soon though I think as the jewellery making is hurting my eyes, as my glasses are more for computer work. When I go to the opticians next time I will ask for a pair for crafting as well.

Now now stroppy don't go over doing it just to get back to work.

So glad you're enjoying the new hobby Ed but you really do not want eye strain so get the optician to sort you out next time you visit xx

CB, I have varifocal lenses in my glasses and I think that they are great.  They take a little while to get used to them but they are fine for me.

THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Thanks guys, I have quite strong glasses for computer work, reading etc. but I am finding that doing finicky work is pulling on my eyes, I remember that the last time I went he asked me if I did any close up work, well at that time I didn't so I didn't need them, I am due a visit in the next month, so I will get some, seeing as they are 2 for 1.  I go once a year because my father has glaucoma, so they are always being checked on. last time I had noticed my left eye was pulling in and slow to focus, and they sorted that out.  I do have a magnifying glass with a light but I can't get on with it very well either with my glasses on or off.  I did try varifocals but I had awful trouble with them, they were maing me feel sick and loose my balance, so I went back to glasses on, glasses off, or just stuck on the end of my nose.

I have 3 pairs of specs - varifocals that I use most of the time, distance specs (don't think I've ever used them), and reading glasses.

I do find that if I'm doing really fiddly embroidery or jewellery stuff that I really NEED my reading glasses.

Have another go at varifocals Ed, they are fab and once you get used to looking down with your eyes to read, and up to see things in the distance using less head movement only eye movement it is no problem.

TBH they sometimes make mistakes at opticians, they did with a close friend of mine... she was in every week for months, so just persevere take them back making sure that thay have molded the glass, check your prescription again, that they are in the correct Left or Right eye in the frame and the level is set for the way you wear your specs and not where they think they should be.

So worth it for me.
