THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

just got in, a really stressy, emotional day. Had a phone call from Yve at the hospital to say that mum had deteriorated seriously & that the doctors have been doing tests & weren't happy with the results. They have got her on the maximum oxygen/medication that she can have & is showing no improvement.

At about 3.00pm they called Yve up from her office & told her to gather the family at the hospital as things were looking bad. The docs said that none of the tests were looking good, that they would do one more batch of blood tests, & if no improvement (& they didn't expect any) then we would have to make some 'decisions'.

Tests were re-done at 4.00p.m & her doc (who is lovely) was so excited as she is beginning to show some improvement. It's hard though, as she is fully concious & knows everything that is happening & is understandably frightened & exhausted as she is to frightened to go to sleep. She feels she won't wake up again (which is a possibility),

She is in a serious vacumn sealed oxygen mask, so we can't hear her properly when she talks, & wired up to loads of monitors etc.

We were sent home as us being there was keeping her awake & she kept trying to talk, which they didn't want her to do. She needs to conserve her energy.

So once again we're waiting for another take-away to be delivered

CG love that your littlie is so brave and very intelligent to have worked out about power cuts at 3 (mine also knew all about them as they happen so often being this high up)

Suspect with these high winds I may also end up in the black tonight

I hope your mum shows even more signs of improvement. Sleep & rest are the best thing for her, she must be so frightened.

We have our big SW Quilters Xmas meeting at Exeter Racecourse tomorrow. The storms are returning tonight down here so I am hoping we can get there. We had to turn back because of the weather last time.:-( Cant see any damage outside. I will have a better look later.

Hope the weekend means one less thing to juggle (work)  for those with Mum problems. Tomorrow's weather looks awful in the South! Hope it improves before we are on that boat next weekend. 😮

THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Afternoon

Just slept for 11 hours as my sister arrived yesterday to give me a break.

Remarkably though, after the behaviour on Wednesday (agitated and aggressive, totally confused) they transferred Mum to a specialist Ageing ward in another hospital. By the time we saw her there yesterday, she was much better. Still confused, but no agitation or aggression, but eating and drinking.

The nature of the illness is that there are good and bad patches, so this may just be a better patch.

My sister is going in this afternoon, and I will go tonight.

Having a little bit of me time.

Thank you for the birthday wishes - I feel like it was a bit of a blur/

Gina - fingers crossed for your Mum too.
