I'm knitting away, not very fast but I'm getting there, I'm really suprised how much I'm liking it:-)
I think toggles are better on the cosy too.....am I too late to vote?

Well done on the knitting CB - I love it and it does get addictive 😉
Yes I did make the tea cosy - thought it was quirky 🙂 It's actually quite simple to do. was thinking of making one for MDCC but I don't think there's any interest.
Rhubarb has kindly offered some buttons / toggles, so I'll see when they arrive

PCC - your lampshade.
We used to have a great lighting shop in the next village, he retired recently and no-one would take over the business.
I did just as you and took the original lampshade off for a pattern. When I got stuck I took into said shop and he said first rule unless you are a pro is - don't take the original shade off. You use it as a base to put your new creation on top. So I went and bought 2 real cheapie shades - plain beige - and then.
Spray the cover of the original shade all over with craft/sewing adhesive - let it get tacky. Then spray the wrong side of your creation with the same spray adhesive and, with lampshade standing upright gently place the new one on top using your hands to flatten as you go (an extra pair of hands helpful to hold it steady for you) If you get any bumpy bits just pull it back and start smoothing again.
You may have to use some more adhesive to make sure the join sticks down well. Don't spray but spray some onto an old plate and use a paintbrush to apply, or use some wallpaper border adhesive the same way. Fold over the top and the bottom the same way. I did 2 like this same as LA but cost me a tenth of the price. Good luck.
