Honestly, what are you lot like
05-08-2013 8:47 PM
C.K. - it was doing that for me about 10 days ago, also unread posts said "new", but it only worked for a few hours.
Never mind, they may perhaps get it working properly one day

Honestly, you can't take them anywhere but would you want to?

Quick update
FIL is home and in good spirits. Tired and breathless but otherwise OK.
Social Workers eventually turned up around 3.30pm after many phone calls. They were pretty good and assessed him sensitively. He will have an interim care package with carers calling 3 times a day for up to 6 weeks as part of the leaving hospital package. During this time, his long term needs will be assessed.
We will be applying for Attendance Allowance and will hopefully use the money to pay for Home Care to cover domestic work. He will also get the Community Alarm system free for 6 months as he is over 80
.
Not too bad an outcome considering.
He was very happy with all the work we have done in his house, and I stayed with him until about 9pm to make sure he was fed and settled before I left
.
Need to go back tomorrow, but in the meantime, I have a very large G&T in my hand!
Thanks for all the support, help and advice everyone. Not sure if the hard work is over, or just beginning.

Morning all.
That's what I do as well Stan and I still have the same problem. Never mind. It will be sorted one day - we hope.
It's a lot brighter here today but there is some cloud around. I've not been outside yet so I don't know how warm it is.
Must go now. Hugs to all that need them.

Have to agree Gina,
FIL cried when he saw his clean house, and particularly his bed. Was well worth it.
OH has just called to see him after finishing nightshift - he is unwashed and wearing yesterdays clothes, so he has left him for the carers to see at lunchtime.
I am doing some shopping for him and calling later, so will see what has happened.

Good idea to leave him Mags so the carers can see just what he's capable of (or not). The more you do for him, the less they'll do, not because they're uncaring but because they're usually so pushed for time.
At least now, whatever he has done for him, by whom, he'll be better off than he was before.
How has the chemo affected him? He sounds quite well for what he's been through.

Very cheerful and glad it's over CG. Really pleased to be home BUT breathless and tired. He stumbled yesterday in the house and is quite weak, so I have arranged a Community Care alarm and we are having grab handles fitted in the shower. Maybe also a second bannister.
Side effects are just kicking in. Sore throat and irritated gullet, which is slowly getting worse. No idea how long they will last so will just have to wait and see.

Afternoon all.
Hope that things go as well as can be expected for your FIL Learning. It must be an awful worry for you and my thoughts are with you. (((((Learning and family))))).
The weather here has been somewhat mixed here today. It's cloudy at the moment but we have had some sun. Fortunately, we've had no rain though. Also, it is a lot cooler thankfully.
Hope that everyone is as well as can be expected.

Thanks Chris.
Problem is that when I called this afternoon, FIL was unwashed, unshaved and still wearing yesterdays clothes. No dishes washed since I was there yesterday, and hospital bag not unpacked
I have left a note for the carers.
Have taken him a new microwave, clothes airer, sink tidy, shower curtain and some food shopping. He is very confused about his Medipack and has taken Wednesdays meds today (where were the carers?)
Spoken to Doctors and Pharmacy re medications being delivered and also arranged for his newspaper to be delivered as he can no longer go to collect it.
Have brought away a huge bag of washing and the old microwave, which needs to go to the tip.
I'm off to work for a rest tomorrow!

Honestly, social services and carers really annoy me at times. Why can't they do the job that they are supposed to do? It must be an an awful worry for you.
Steph's just rung and she is coming for her tea tomorrow and she's bringing Grace. I'm really looking foward to seeing them both. It should be fun.
Hugs to all that need them.

I expect you'll have to keep an eye on what's happening for a few weeks Learning....they are so pushed for time things won't get done.
I've just found the sparrowhawk having his supper on our lawn....he's eating a ickle birdy!!he's leaving a ton of feathers on our newly mown lawn and he's not moving!! eeewww guess who'll have to go and tidy that lot up...yup ME

One morning a couple of weeks back, I think a sparrowhawk had had another bird for breakfast down the road from us. There were feathers everywhere. Mind you, I did see a pigeon off one day last week when I was going out. Well, if it wouldn't get out of the middle of the road when I was driving, it was its own fault.

Chris, when we go to work at 5.30am, I have to do the bunny run, making sure OH knows there's one up ahead!!! some days they're everywhere so far we've managed to evade squishing one. The worst ones are the pheasants, gawd, they're so dense!!!!!!! they just stand there and gawp at you, but they don't get up early so we don't see too many of those

We live about three miles from Lord Derby's estate at Knowsley and we tend to get quite a bit of wildlife from there. We've had a couple of pheasants a few times and we have even had a grouse as well. We used to live about a mile away from where we live now and there were quite a few trees there and we even had a red squirrel. All the local moggies where waiting for it at the bottom of the tree. Luckily, the squirrel evaded capture by the cats. Also, when whilst we live there, we used to have a load of rabbits as well.
