Has anyone used one? If so, what did you think to it? I'm just wondering if it would help my bad back.

Kind of depends exactly what is the matter with your Back, an exact diagnosis is the first step to a targeted remedy. I have used several remedies on mine, TENS included, but that is only useful if the problem is muscular. If it involves Discs, or possibly Arthritis, then a regular visit to a Chiropractor would be more effective.............at £30 odd a time, I know that it can start getting expensive; but once a month could keep you straightened out and keep you going.

tens machines are great! we have one, and find it very good. It's mainly a better help for muscle injury but I have arthritis and it soothes me. It's great for sciatica too.
start off with a more economical one first in case you don't get the results you want. If you find it's worth it, go for a better one then.

I saw the Chiropractor yesterday for the first time and he said the pain in my buttocks is muscular. He rubbed some gel in and put a machine on my back and gave me some exercises to do twice a day.

I empathize, back pain can be a real drag and all too often seems to control / dominate ones life.

I would second that evoman, stick to the exercises Carol they certainly will help, I have little movement in the lower part of my back due to four fused vertebrae just below the waist and I find the less I do the more it stiffens up, however it can work the other way the more I do it stiffens up so I am always looking for the happy medium, I would say I haven't had one day in 25 years that I haven't had pain but I haven't had a spasm ( which involves the back seizing up totally) for about 5 years now, fingers crossed, touch wood and that is down to doing the exercises, brilliant anti inflammatory pills and knowing my limits. I have days when I am in a lot of pain and find that the tens machine masks the pain and I don't need to take pain killers.
I hope you manage to control your condition.

I use a Tens Machine when need be for phantom pains, due to an injury a while ago. I found the various settings are good too depending on the degree of pain.
Also I have used a Dreamland heat pad for my neck and shoulders, that is good for muscular aches and pains.
All well worth a try to help alleviate a lot of pains,, and much better of course to get away from taking a lot of pain relief medication.
So hope what ever you decide to try Carol it does help you a lot.

I spoke to the Chiropractor earlier and mentioned the Tens machine; he said it could help so will look into it. He has told me that the pain in my groin is most likey referred pain from the hernia.
