Supermarket Delivery

I had my groceries delivered earlier today which included a box of 12 eggs

The driver opened the box and found one egg to be cracked

He left the box with me, as the other 11 are OK, but said I would be refunded for the whole box.

The driver told me that this is their normal practice with eggs, as breakages can happen in transit.

First time it has happened to me, but first class customer service.

I always have deliveries, I hate food shopping.

My best sub so far was two £18+ legs of lamb instead of two £5 little shoulder joints!  Woman Wink

I use Asda home delivery and on the whole they're very good. Come when they say they will and don't often make substitutions but when they do, they're usually good.

I used Mr T once. 30 minutes after my shopping should have been delivered, they rang, apologised and delayed the delivery until the next day, but would refund my delivery charge.

My shopping arrived after the alloted time the next day. I had to ring them 3 times before my delivery charge was refunded. When I did get the refund they had refunded my shop in full.

I was probably just unlucky. But it was inconvenient and I had to go and buy some things. Have never used them since.

Has anyone used the supermarket click and collect service for groceries?
I think it means you select your groceries on-line. Then someone in the supermarket goes round the shelves, gets the things, puts them in bags or boxes, and puts them all out for you to come round and collect.

A big supermarket here in Brighton has built a "click and collect" facility, in their car-park. What puzzles me is this - I've only, ever, seen anyone go in it once. That was about two years ago. The rest of the time it's completely deserted! It looks like a waste of space, it doesn't seem to serve any purpose, so why is it there?

Its exactly what you say. A lot of people use it when they are on holiday picking it up on their way to caravans and tents.

My daughter uses it a lot and either she goes and picks it up or she gets her husband to collect it on his way home from work.

She uses home delivery, click and collect or shops in store whichever is more convenient for her on that particular day.

We use click and collect for groceries when there are no £1 delivery slots available. It is quicker and they put the bags in the car for you. If I have ordered from George we often have it delivered to store and collect it from the collection point.

Yes Ed Blackadder, I got my shopping for free, after I had been inconvenienced and had to repeatedly request the refund they said they would give me, and go out to buy essentials required.

Unfortunately that particular supermarket is not popular in my area. They were to build a supermarket in town. Over the last 15 years they have bought up several business properties, independent shops, family businesses, after the threat of compulsory purchase. They submitted plans that the local council approved, but the residents opposed and eventually Central Government overturned them.

Tesco's reapplied and then changed there plans and so on for the last 15 years. At least 50% of town is now derelict. Earlier this year they pulled out. Good we didn't want them anyway. But in the process they ruined our town and even now, one of their many subsidaries still owns the land and a main street in town is completely derelict on one side for over half a mile...............until they decide to sell the land on, it will remain so.

I'm sorry, but they have left a bitter taste in my mouth and many others.

Just saying, nothing personal intended Woman Happy
