What do you think...what would You do...
Two years after new neighbours moved in, they appeared to have started running a business from the property - that involved bringing home the business waste and burning it at home... bonfires and burning waste from 3 appliances inside. It has totally ruined my life: the air here is often covered in a cloud of it, and often stinks because of it; I can't open doors or windows; I can't use my garden; I certainly can't use my washing line any more; my garden has become a no-go area....and my patio....well - who'd want to sit out in a cloud of stinking smoke?
It's a total nightmare.
What would you?

Have you tried approaching the neighbours first ??
They may not actually realise that this is causing such a problem to yo and you may be able nip it in the bud with a quick word.
If not then I agree with CB contact your local enviromental healt through your borough council and also your local councillor

I agree with Stan, have a word with the neighbours first; that's probably what the council will advise anyway. Good luck. It's bad enough when neighbours have barbecues and you've to shut the windows! Must be awful for you.

Not sure where you live but I am sure you will find it is illegal to burn any trade waste.
What they are doing is saving money by not disposing of it in the correct manner.
As soon as you see the rubbish start to burn ring the environmental health and tell them that someone is burning trade waste in a private garden. They will attempt to attend while the fire is still burning. They will issue them with a notice warning them that they face heavy fines if they do it again.
I have no doubt that they are aware it is illegal but until someone complains they will continue to do so...
IT IS ILLEGAL....

They most definately will not advise you to speak to them... If you tell them it is trade waste they are burning they will send round an officer to issue them with a notice.

I'll echo the above, do not under any circumstances approach the offenders.
If you then subsequently had to contact Environmental Health and they took action, those neighbours may make your life even worse as they'd know it was you who'd complained.
Contact Environmental Health tomorrow and give them the approximate times the nuisance is being caused.
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

As well as all the other advice, take photographs of the fires and keep a note in your diary when they happen and the duration.
Your neighbour is not only breaking the law by burning "industrial waste" but if his house burnt down his insurance would be null and void...
