Shrinking Lavender?.

I know i have asked before but have been observing my balcony plants. Even in the cooler months my Rosemary is positively thriving but Lavender has shrivelled up???????. Is it supposed to do this in Winter ?,as i dont know if its gone??? or will just reflower again when the time for Lavender comes round?. Its just got the look like someones put a match to it???. LOL. Awwwww nooooo. Any hope anyone?.

That's normal rose so not to worry. It's a good idea to "dead head" lavender at the end of the flowering season then in the Spring just start feeding it and it should revive itself. Keep it moist now but don't over water it.

My lavender is just brown dead twigs.  I'm sure it will come back in the nice weather but it's never really done much good.  We haven't got Rosemary any more.  We used to have a really ancient gnarled tree of it!

Shrinking Lavender?.

When the end of summer comes, chop lavender plants right off until there is only six inches or so

of plant above the main stem.  It seems harsh but it's what they do on the lavender farms and

it seems to work.  The lavender will re-sprout again in the spring and grow into a nice bushy

plant with loads of leaves and flowers and not so much woody old stems.

Bit late for summer gone, but give it a try this summer.  Also, when first flowering has finished,

dead-head the stems and you should get another flowering that season, and if you dead-head

again, you will probably get another flowering still.

Lavender likes a sunny position to grow, to be kept moist but not soaked/waterlogged and, as

I said, to be pruned right back at the end of summer.

Mine is too old to cut back now. I do have some newer ones though so I will remember this.
