Remember Me Asking About Tablets?

A few weeks ago I asked for advice about tablets (the technical sort) on here

as I was wanting to get one on nectar points.

I can't find the thread now as it was before everything changed, but I got

a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 in the end, after much deliberating and the fact

it was on a very good special offer price.

I've got as far as trying to set it up and I can't, being the techno numpty that

I am!  It's got to the bit where it says "select wi-fi" and gives various options.

We haven't got wi-fi at home so am I correct in thinking I have to go out and

get one of those wi-fi receiver thingys, as I mainly want to use the tablet

when I'm not at home anyway, 'cos when I am home I can use this

computer.

A friend of mine has something called a "pebble" that just sits on the table

or whatever, close to the tablet.  Don't know if "pebble" is its proper name

or if that's just what my friend calls it.

Any help, as always, gratefully appreciated.

Presumably it comes with wifi built in.  just go out somewhere, wetherspoons all have wi-fi even if it is rubbish, boot up and choose their wifi, set up an account and connect.  You only need a dongle thing if you aren't prepared to find a freebie or are in the wilds..  couldn't get on with maccyDs, local play area have excellent free wifi.

Went to Wales recently and one pub whose wi-fi is so poor it don't connect in the pub worked fine in the caff next door LOL.

What a brilliant idea Guardpig!  I shall do that.

However, I will need something for when I can't cadge freebie off somewhere, but Hubby is going to phone

our phone and internet provider and get a wi-fi thingamagig, he reckons they'll provide as we have all his

business connections and home with the same provider.

Yes, just go to your wifi setting & click for it to search for a connection, there's lots of free ones availabe when your out n about but sometimes you may have to ask for the activation code.
I treated myself a couple of weeks ago to a galaxy tab as well but only the 7" one Smiley Happy

HOORAH!!

I've set up my tablet!  All on my own!  I told myself not to be so daft and of course technology never

gets the better of me (ok, I lied a little bit) and that I could do it.  And I did!

I am astounded that I managed to accomplish such a task.

I wasn't sure I did Merc, I did find on here something entitled, "setting up your tablet for dummies" and

thought that pretty much applied to me!

the maccy d wifi is now run by  o2, so should have good coverage

its a fairly simple proccedure where you  text for a code, they message you back to your mobile  then you can log in with your wifi device , = tablet, ipad, mobile, lappy even
