Ever felt your life is one continous round of charging up rechargeable appliances that are designed to make our life easier! On charge at the moment is the window vac, the mobile phone, the toothbrush.........not to mention laptops, tablets, camera's etc for those that have them. Not sure how much electricity it takes to charge these things up but the electric companies won't be complaining when you think how many of these items there are in circulation. 
I just use regular batteries in my appliances.......saves answering awkward questions and no astronomical bills..... *koff*
