Mother in law bought an ipad - no idea how to set it up or to use it.
Despite being given strict instructions not to, "him indoors" fiddled about with setting it up.
Of course he now has no idea what password he used for the i-tunes account, no idea what date of birth he put in, or what security questions he chose, or what answers he used. The one thing we do know is that he used MY credit card details.
Mother in law wants to purchase an app, but of course since no-one has any idea what the password is, no-one can get in to the account.
No problem, I know the apple id, I can access the email account, I just need them to email me the info to re-set the password. Tried that - no email rec'd although it said it had been sent. Tried again - still no email. Gave up in frustration. Tried again a couple of days later - still no email, and whilst there was a shed load in the trash folder, no email from apple.
Now I am positive about what email address was used as the apple id, as the email from apple to verify the email is still there in the in-box. I have checked and checked that I am typing it correctly. I have also logged in to my own i-tunes account, and that is fine.
Has anyone got any ideas as to how I find the password?

Can himself or MIL take the machine into a proper Apple shop. We have always found them rather helpful. Ours is generally crowded with teenage want to haves but once past them there is generally plenty of experts to help.
Better than google, daughter set my phone up, she has memory of gnat, wanted a free book and had to put unknown password in, went online for password refresher and all Google would do was offer to charge me for tech support to change our business account password even though I had logged out of the business account. It is most frustrating!. Eventually found the right password.

Apple Store/Mens' Creche, it's where you dump the boys/men when they're
too big for the creche and you want a bit of peace to look in the shops!
They don't seem to mind all those males in there playing, most of whom
probably have no intention of buying anything.

Call Apple on 08000480408.
Ask for technical support and have the serial number of the ipad with you.
They will sort you out for free.
Expect it to take about an hour and be in front of your computer when you call.
Hope that helps.

Apple technical support were absolutely AWESOME. Turns out that "him indoors" set MIL up with a yahoo.com mail account, then registered with an apple id of ??.??????@yahoo.co.uk.
Once we had that established, and the tech guy got it sending emails to both .com and .co.uk we are cooking with gas. Have to wait 24 hours for the link to re-set the password as there have been so many attempts, but no problem with that.
Thank you for your help, I really do appreciate it.
