Online Grocery Shopping

Just taken delivery of my first ever online grocery shopping; found it a bit daunting when I ordered it, but I know the procedure now. Really pleased with it all. Think its the way to shop in future as we don't have a car, saves carrying the shopping to the bus station, also cheaper than a taxi and saves a lot of time. Not sure OH is as keen on the idea as me though. Will be good in winter too, shop from the comfort of home  Woman Happy

I've always had very fresh longer lasting stuff from our Tesco delivery. Don't know who picks my shopping but I can't fault them.

OH not too pleased with my online shop as the loaves I got him, (delivered Wednesday) have gone mouldy already! He wasnt keen on me shopping this way anyway. BUT I will make sure I ask for the longest date on things like bread or he can always get his own Smiley Happy My bread was fine.

Think I'm getting into the online shopping now; refused the 4pt of milk as it was only dated 2 days from now, in spite of me politely asking for the longest date. It wasn't a problem, delivery man was very nice about it. Woman Happy

On the order I had this morning the cornflakes box was a bit squashed at one corner so the driver refunded the whole price. No complaints here.yes.gif

We don't pick the shortest dates, we are told to pick the best we can find on the shelves, it's not our fault fresh stuff has very very short dates, it drives us mad, as we get told off and it's not our fault.
We had a customer in the store tell our manager that she was very suprised as she had seen we really did look for the best produce....praise for once!!!

I online grocery shop. Paying for delivery is cheaper than taking 2 kids around the supermarket.

Plus it also gave me the chance to catch up with my brother, dept manager for home shopping until he moved  to the bakery.

Having taken both kids shopping yesterday I will be doing it all online until they go back to school, the 2 hr slots for delivery are expensive but the 8 hr ones are only £2 so much less than getting the car off the drive, drinks, snack, comic etc.

i always try to freeze bread in this weather as a deterrant to mould

if i have non in and buy  i take  few slices out then freeze the rest until i need to get the rest

i get really irrated by the amount of lollygagging they seem to do in our store and they seem toblock ailses with too many homeshoppers

Just realised that you can miss out when getting groceries online; where are the money off coupons that I often get when shopping instore? Also, there is no price comparison coupon telling me what I have saved or if it has cost more. I did get a petrol coupon with todays shop to be fair. (Alot of good it is to me, ha,ha) Maybe CB can enlighten me on these points?

do you shopping through mysupermarket and you will get coupons etc and you can see exactly where your shopping is cheapest, i dont know about other supermarkets but asda gives you cashback on certain products as well, and you can still use all your tesco coupons once you send your trolley to the store (from mysupermarket)

asda still refund teh difference if your shopping is cheaper elsewhere too online

hhmmmm, I'll ask when I go back to work on Friday.

I know from time to time they have free samples that aren't available to the public, tea, biscuits etc.

Price promise is a good one though, I'll definitely ask about that.......

here is my shop through mysupermarket (thus far)

you can see the price the same shop would be in the other biggest supermarkets

and the cashback rate

nearly £40 difference between asda and ocado (we dont have them here anyway)

and they all keep your vouchers and coupons in your account, so you just click to add them at checkout, same as you normally would

But wouldn't you get an email from Tesco the day after your delivery saying that you would have got it cheaper somewhere else and refunding you the difference?

I've not had one and Ive done about 5 online shops now. Don't think its very fair really.

no, because i buy several things that are specific to asda, so that is when tesco say they dont sell that exact product, so cannot price match it

i look to see what coupons i have in tesco, to see if that makes it worth while

it seldom is if ever

i do a tesco shop about every 1 in 6, so i can get the things i prefer from tesco

i'd go without rather than set foor in a supermarketSmiley Very Happy

Tesco always send an email the day after you shop with the price comparason, if you get a voucher there will be a code on it to use on the next shop,  when you get your clubcard statement you should get lots of vouchers with either money off or extra points, if you want to use them online you need to change your details on my clubcard.

P.S on my shop this week I saved £15.19 by shopping at tescos.

Check with clubcard that they have your details correct just in case, because you should have something by email I always get something weither it is a voucher or telling you how much you have saved. Also most vouchers that can be picked up instore and in Tesco magazines can be used online with the code printed on them.

Im so glad Morrisons are catching on , they are very much behind in doing their online thing. Tesco is the one i go for at the moment but i still get bits from Sainsburys. i think they are actually building a Morrisons near me in Maidstone so they say, or i have heard on the grapevine???. They seem to have lots and lots of choice. We have an Aldis nearby but i went once and it just does not appeal???. Smiley Happy

I do almost all my shopping online. I actually just did an order about an hour ago. 🙂 Thanks for the tips there Caps. I do put some notes on the items, but didn't think about the longest date or the leanest meat thing. I will be doing that next time. 🙂 But I must have a good picker as everything is usually long dates and would be what I would choose myself. 🙂 And I am a bit on the picky side. I have tried several different stores as they all have different specials and offers sometimes and we are lucky to live in an area where we can get them all delivered. Morrisons will be a new one soon. 🙂 Wish M&S did deliveries too.

I also used one of those codes for where my last shop was more than elsewhere and got a discount on this one. 🙂 We do get the occasional freebies too. And I get sent coupons to use online too. 🙂 The drivers are all very pleasant too. And Roxie is now getting used to them coming and looks forward to seeing some of them again. LOL

Life is too short so enjoy it while you can!
