Not sure what happened, but my lovely collection of Yorkie ornaments is no more!! I bought a tall glass display cabinet last week to put them in and this morning, all but the top shelf cascaded down on to the ones below, breaking several ornaments (some of them vintage ones) and chipping many more in the process. It has taken a long time and quite a bit of money to build my collection up. Managed to superglue a couple of the ornaments and my hands as well! Oh well, ebay searches, here I come.......:-(
I typed this and it vanished, so retyped it; apologies if it turns up anywhere else.

What a shame Carol. I hope you can find replacements.

Carol would your contents insurance cover it?

Aww Carol how upsetting especially as you've been collecting them for a while 😞
Hopefully you'll be able to track down some replacements 🙂

Dont think the contents insurance would cover it but thanks for the suggestion. And I did cry! I know in the grand scheme of things, it's not a tragedy, but its still upsetting. Ive looked at some ornaments on ebay and the postage for some of them is ridiculous now; I know the rates have gone up, but fair do's. 🙂

Yes, I was aking about a yorkie ornament, CaptainBovine; the one in a crib. Still haven't managed to find one, but I'm ever hopeful! LOL

can you post a bit of a description of the ones you have lost and I will search the local charity shops etc for them, its worth a try. So sorry to hear of your disaster it must have been devastating for you.

The two favourites that I would like to replace are a Leonardo one where there is a Yorkie in a wicker basket, with a tag on saying "Please take me home" Got in on my watch list at the moment; the other is a vintage one of a china Yorkie sat on a cushion; I know that's not much to go by, but hard to describe them really; I appreciate your kind gesture. Thank you.

If the cabinet was faulty then the retailer might have some liability towards the cost of replacing the ornaments - worth a try?

Oh how awful, I know exactly how you feel as a shelf collapsed in my glass cabinet a few years ago, damaging some of my glass collection and smashing some beyond repair. It's not just the monetary value, though that is of course important, but the sentimental value too.
I can only think in my case that I overloaded the shelf, I don't know, but it doesn't sound as if your ornaments were very heavy.
I would be happy to keep an eye out for you as I do go to antiques and collectors' fairs sometimes.
