Newspaper scams

Have you seen the advert for a "newspaper" giving away replica coins and boxes.

Yeah right.  Buy the paper, only to find the coin is only available at one supermarket and 3 newsagent chains, subject to availability.

Get to the shop and guess what:  None left.

And the boxes are subject to collecting 14 different number tokens

That will teach me to take notice of tv advertising.

If you look at the paper you will see that the condition is actually stated in large lettering of the front of the paper........pick up your coin at .....its quite clear.

The token collection for the box is also not not unusual ....and the fact that multiple purchases apply is also stated on the front page ....although in this instance the lettering is much smaller ....but it is there ....

Its a case of reading the terms ......they are on the very front of the paper ....

Not sure of the TV advert and what is actually stated there ....will be interesting to see.....

I buy that paper anyway on a Saturday, but would have liked to have the coin but the specified shops are miles away from where I live so it's not practical to even try to get one. As the coin is free anyway I don't exactly feel cheated but get fed up as this often happens with these offers. Plan to save for the box though.

I bought the paper with my online grocery order, and there was no picture on the site

It's a good paper - I buy it every day, not for the freebies but for itself  I haven't even looked at the ad, because it's not my sceen, but quality-wise, if it's being given free, don't expect too much anyway.

So if you went on an online shopping site and purchased an item advertised as buy one get one free, you wouldn't care if the free one wasn't delivered?

A supposedly free item offered if you a make a purchase is an incentive to buy, if there effectively is no free item, it amounts to a false promise and thus misrepresentation.
